Chapter Two - I love Tristan

Freya Rose

A white Hummer with blacked out windows pulled up behind the bus. It was blaring out music, and it was glitter and gold by Barns Courtney, the same song I had as my ring tone. I think I like this guy already, I thought to myself.

“Come on, that's our ride, Fi,” Mason said to me as he stood up, while still managing to carry me somehow.

“I can walk Mason,” I said with a giggle.

“I don't want you to,” He replied firmly.

He was more dominant in his tone this time and it was so hot. He carried me over to the Hummer, and a guy got out of the driver's side. I assumed it was Evan. He was similar to Mason, he had light brown hair, with green eyes and he was very handsome too. I'd say around the same sort of age as Mason, or maybe a little older.

“Evan, Freya. Freya, Evan,” Mason introduced us.

“Nice to meet you,” I greeted him politely.

I reached out my hand for him to shake, he shook my hand and greeted me,

“Hi, Freya. Your carriage awaits, beautiful,” he said as he opened up the back door for me.

Mason placed me gently inside the car, as Evan went over to get our bags, then Mason got into the car and sat next to me.

“Evan seems nice,” Trying my best to make small talk.

I'd been completely swept up in the magnetic attraction to Mason, that I hadn't been able to think straight, but now the magnitude of the situation I was in, was starting to dawn on me. This was huge. I was about to meet the father who had abandoned me and my mom seventeen years ago. All my life I had imagined that he was dead. It was much easier to think of him as dead, than to think that he just didn't care about me enough to stick around. I was nervous and angry, and I didn't have a clue what I was going to say to the guy.

“Yeah, he's cool, I guess. Well, I have to say that, he's my cousin,” Mason said breaking my train of thought. “Don't be nervous, Fi,” he continued as he scooted over to me and turned my head to face him. “Nothing bad is going to happen to you, I'll make sure of it.”

He kissed me and I happily welcomed the distraction; I really didn't want to be inside of my head right now.

“Ahem, Mason put her down will you. You know what the Fionn will do to you, if he knows that you've had your filthy hands all over his little girl,” Evan snapped as he got back into the driver's seat.

Mason cleared his throat and slid away from me, then left the car entirely. He opened the front passenger door and sat in the front next to Evan. What the hell? I thought to myself. What, he can't even sit next to me? I couldn't hold in my frustration any longer, and shouted,

“What the hell has it got to do with him who touches me? He has no right to try and control, any part of a life that he hasn't even bothered to be a part of, for seventeen fucking years.”

I was absolutely seething; my rage was building, and I saw that Evan was wide-eyed and staring at me through the rear-view mirror.

“Wow, she's definitely got his temper, hasn't she? Good luck Mace.”

He let out a chuckle as he punched Mason in the arm. Mason punched him back even harder, and then said in a cocky tone,

“Don't worry cuz. I know exactly how to handle her.”

I rolled my eyes because their macho bullshit was already irritating me.

“Like hell you do Mason!” I growled at him as I folded my arms across my chest.

He quickly turned around to face me, and mouthed the words, 'I'm sorry.' I huffed and scowled at him in response. He nervously turned back around and stared out of the side window.

“So whipped,” Evan said then laughed, as he started the car up and pulled away.

I stared out of the window in silence for most of the car ride. My brain wouldn't shut up, all different things kept going around and around in circles. Tristan, Jessie, Landon, Clara, Mason, and my father. It was driving me insane. I would occasionally get distracted by Evan and Mason's childish bickering, but it wasn't enough to keep my thoughts at bay.

The car pulled onto a long dirt road surrounded by trees, and we drove for another five minutes before entering a clearing. Right in front of us was a massive log-built cabin. It took my breath away, the wolves would love it here, I thought to myself. I held back a tear as visions of Tristan and I, flooded my mind.

“We're here, Fi,” Mason said as he put his arm around Evan’s seat and turned to face me. I smiled slightly and nodded.

“You'll have to stop calling her your Fianna, Mace. I know she is, but you'll have to pick your moment very carefully when you tell Damien.”

“Yeah, you're right. Freya are you ready?” He asked in a low tone.

“Yeah,” I said as I nodded.

It was another lie; I wasn't ready for it at all. All I could think of was hitting Damien straight in his useless face. I took in a deep breath and then exhaled, as Mason came around the car and opened the door for me. He held his hand out for me to take, but I shook my head and raised my eyebrows at his hand. He rolled his eyes at himself as he'd forgotten what happened when we touched. I stepped out of the car and began to walk up towards the cabin. Evan got our bags out of the trunk, and then followed us up the driveway. We climbed the three steps up to the porch and I stopped as I took in another deep breath to prepare myself. I waited for Mason to knock on the door but instead, it flew open with a bang as it hit the wall.

“Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, Dad! She's here, she's finally here,” a young girl squealed.

I watched in shock as she pushed Mason out of the way and hugged me. She picked me up so high that my feet weren't on the floor anymore. She was a couple of years younger than me I guessed, but she was my height already, and so strong. She had my color and length hair, but she had light green eyes instead, the color of them popped against the gorgeous contrast of her tanned skin. She is a beautiful girl but very excitable, I thought to myself.

“Um, hi,” I said in a confused tone.

“Amelia. Let the girl breathe, will ya,” a deep and authoritative voice boomed from within the cabin.

The girl quickly dropped me to my feet and turned to face the door.

“I'm sorry dad, I'm just so excited to have a big sister,” she said in a low but still excited voice.

“Sister?” I asked in shock as I turned to stare at the girl.

“Yes, Amelia's your half-sister,” the guy's voice said as he walked into the doorway.

Seeing my dad for the first time was strange, he was around six-foot-tall and quite built. Not quite as big as I'd imagined a leader to be though. He looked nothing like the version I had built up in my head over the years. He had the same color hair and eyes as my mom had told me. So, I knew that part already, light brown hair and green eyes. I had imagined a nasty and mean looking guy, fat and balding maybe? The guy standing in front of me was nothing like that, his face looked stern, but he had an unexpected softness and kindness in his eyes.

He ran forwards and picked me up into a hug, and then spun me around a few times. The girl giggled and I heard Evan and Mason gasp, they obviously weren't used to seeing him act like this.

“Ahem, sorry about that, I am just so glad that you decided to come,” he said as he lowered me to the floor and stepped back.

I wasn't expecting that reaction, and I didn't understand why they were all so excited to see me. If he cares that much, then why the hell did he abandon me? I could feel my rage building again.

“I'm just here for answers, then I'm gone, don't get your hopes up,” I said coldly through gritted teeth.

His eyes grew wide, as he saw my eyes illuminate. The girl spotted them too, and immediately lowered her own eyes to the floor.

“Yes, of course, I'm sorry. Um, follow me, I have your room...” He paused and quickly corrected himself, “Uh. A guest room, already set up for you.”

He ushered with his hand for me to follow him into the house. I followed him upstairs and Evan hurried behind with my bag. We entered a cute little room, it was a light dusty pink color, everything in it looked and smelled brand new. Dusty pink and white bedding, white furniture, dusty pink drapes and a fluffy rug.

“I hope you like it; I'll just leave you to unpack,” he said in a low voice that was laced with sadness, as he went to leave the room.

“Damien?” I called out and turned around to face him.

His head was hanging down as he turned to look at me with sadness in his eyes.

“Yeah?”

“Did you do all of this for me?” I asked as I swept my arm around to indicate all of the new furniture.

“Um.” He replied then paused, it looked like he was watching my face to gauge what I wanted him to say.

“Yes, he did!” A young boy shouted from the hallway as he ran past the room. Evan laughed and put my bag on the bed, then excused himself.

“Yeah, I did. When Mason phoned Evan to say he'd met you, I rushed out and got lots of stuff to make you a room of your own,” he said as his eyes grew wide, and a small smile found its way onto his face.

“You didn't have to go to all that trouble,” I replied while faking a smile of my own.

“It's no trouble at all. I wanted to do it for you, I wanted to make sure you'd feel welcome.”

He smiled again, before leaving the room, softly closing the door behind him.

“Thank you,” I shouted through the closed door.

I sighed and walked over to the bed, dropping my bag to the floor, before flopping backwards onto the mattress. It was soft and I was so damn tired, I think that I could have fallen asleep within seconds.

 ***

Ring, ring, ring.

“Damn it!” I said quietly as I quickly sat up and fumbled in my pocket for the phone that the tracker had given me earlier. I pulled it out and looked at it.

Tyler calling, it flashed up as it kept ringing.

I took in a deep breath, and then answered the phone.

“Freya? Freya you there? Damn it, Freya answer me, please!” Tyler shouted in a frantic voice.

“Tyler, I'm here,” I replied quietly so nobody could hear me.

“I can barely hear you, Freya. Where the hell are you?”

I quickly ran into the bathroom that was joined onto my bedroom, closing the door behind me. I thanked the lord when I spotted a lock on it. I locked it and sat down on the floor with my back up against the door.

“Is that any better?” I asked while speaking slightly louder.

“Yeah. Why haven't you been answering your phone? We've been trying to get a hold of you all day!” He snapped in a demanding tone.

“Didn't your tracker tell you?” I asked making sure I sounded annoyed. I still couldn't believe that they had sent someone to stalk me.

“Yeah. He said you were on the way to your grandparent’s house, but that you were all over some guy on the bus! What the hell is that all about? My dad told me to piss off, after the tracker told him to take the phone off of loudspeaker,” he replied sounding completely confused and a little angry.

Crap, what do I say to that? I thought to myself in a panic. I quickly tried to think of something to say, anything at all, that could explain what the tracker had seen between Mason and me.

“Freya, you there?” I heard Tyler ask on the phone.

Damn it! Um, quickly, think Freya, I panicked and then just shouted into the phone,

“What do you want from me Tyler!?” I shocked myself, as well as him, by the sounds of it.

“Oh. Um, I wanted to check that you were okay, that's all. We all understand why you ran away, my mom told us what she did, and said to you. She feels horrible Freya; we all want you to come home. I also thought you'd want to know that Tristan had to have surgery,” he said in a calm and concerned voice.

With everything that had happened, I had forgotten about my face hitting the car dashboard. I quickly stood up to look into the mirror. It was a shock to see that my split lip and broken nose were completely healed. I had to admit that was one good side effect that came along with being a freak.

“Is he okay? I bet he's freaking out that I'm not there... I...” I said panicking and feeling completely guilty.

“No, not really Frey,” he bluntly replied.

Wait? What? He didn't care that I wasn't there? That doesn't make any sense. Tyler spoke again saving me from my thoughts,

“He's in a coma Freya,” he said it barely loud enough for me to hear, as sadness coated his voice. I gasped and held my hand over my mouth. “Freya? Please say something,” he asked sounding like he was about to burst into tears. I stayed quiet not knowing what to say. “He has swelling on his brain, but they just scanned him again, and it's going down slowly. So, they are going to try and wake him up in a few days,” he said, his voice full of hope.

“I'll be back home in two days, I will make sure I'm there when he wakes up,” I managed to choke out before the tears began to stream down my face.

“Why can't you come back, now? Is it because of that guy on the bus?” Tyler shouted angrily.

“No, of course not, I love Tristan more than anything, you know that...” I paused.

“Then what the fuck is stopping you coming back right now? I will drive out there and get you myself,” he growled at me.

“Tyler, my dad found me. I'm at his house now,” I replied between sniffles.

“Oh, Freya. Shit, I am so sorry. Are you okay?” He asked.

He had now calmed down and sounded actually concerned about me. I totally got it, he had every right to be pissed off and angry at me, and I was surprised that he changed his mood so quickly over the phone. For a moment it was like I had my best friend back to talk to. Not the werewolf Tyler, or Cassie's mate, or Tristan's brother, just the old Tyler that I knew and loved from before all of this crap happened.

“To be honest Ty, I'm really overwhelmed at the moment. I'm so sorry for running away, I just couldn't cope with the thought of losing Tristan, and I felt so guilty for Jessie and... Well, everything really. None of this would have happened if I wasn't around,” I said in between sniffles.

“Oh, Freya...” He said softly.

“I thought if I ran away, the vampires would leave your pack alone and come searching for me instead. I don't know, my heads all fucked up, and everything's a complete mess Ty,” I rambled to him, then burst into tears. I could barely hear him over my sobs,

“It's okay, Freya. It's not your fault, no-one blames you for any of it. Tristan loves you, we all do, and every single one of us will protect you no matter what. Do you hear me?” He said trying to reassure me.

“But, Landon said it was all my fault that Jessie died,” I cried down the phone.

“Oh, Freya, he didn't mean it. He has spent the rest of the day blaming me, Cassie, my dad, his dad, and now he's blaming himself. He is all over the place and he's just lashing out. Don't take any notice of him, it's not your fault, I promise. Now get the stuff sorted with your dad, then come back home where you belong, okay,” Tyler said lovingly.

It made me feel a lot better, and my head was a little less mangled than it had been. I knew now what I had to do. I had to get answers from my dad today, go to visit my mom and my grandparents tomorrow, then head home and be by my man's side when he woke up.

“Thanks, Ty, I'll see you in a few days. I love you and Cassie so much, tell your parents I'm so sorry for running away, and I'll be home soon,” I said as I got up, and then wiped my tears away with some tissue.

“Okay, Freya. See you soon, and I love you too, bye,” Tyler said and then hung up the phone.

 ***

Knock, knock, knock.

“Hey, Fi?... Are you okay?... I heard you crying,” Mason quietly whispered through the door. I unlocked the bathroom door, and then opened it.

“Oh!” I gasped as I saw Amelia standing in the doorway behind him.

She was just standing there with her mouth open in shock. Mason spun his head around immediately to follow my gaze. When he saw her, he rushed over to her and yanked her into the bedroom by her arm, and then slammed the door shut. I was stunned at how fast he moved; it was just as fast as the vampire back at the Jasper pack. What the hell are we? Oh crap, we're not vampires, are we? I thought to myself.

“Ow! Get off me you jerk, I'll scream!” She snapped at Mason as she tried to pull her arm away from his grip.

“Okay, okay, just don't scream, please,” he begged her as he let go of her arm, then backed away holding his hands in the air.

“That's what I thought. Now, did I just hear you call my sister your Fianna?” She asked as she moved over to the chest of draws and pulled herself up to sit on top of it.

She crossed her feet and then swung her legs back and forth while her hands held the edge to keep her steady.

“You can't tell your father. Amelia, please,” he begged her.

She giggled at his distress and looked over to me with a raised eyebrow, I shook my head to say no. I was in full agreement with Mason, I had enough to deal with right now.

“Urgh, fine I won't tell him. I wasn't going to anyway, I just wanted to watch you squirm a bit,” she giggled at Mason as he sighed with relief. “I think it's cute anyway, but if it had been Evan, then I would have ripped your face off!” She said as she jumped off of the chest of draws and gave me a very angry scowl, while illuminating her eyes.

She looked murderous, and it made me back up a little with fear. Then as quickly as she'd gotten angry, she calmed down, then laughed and giggled as she skipped happily out of the room. I sighed and let out a nervous laugh.

“Wow, she's um...” I started.

“Mental!” Mason finished with a chuckle.

“Yeah,” I laughed back.

Then with his inhuman speed, he rushed at me taking me by my hand and pulled me into the bathroom. I gasped as he slammed me up against the door closing it with my back. He started placing greedy kisses down my neck. I didn't want to, but my body betrayed me, and I let out a loud moan. He chuckled at me, and then put his hand over my mouth to keep me quiet.

“Shhh, my beautiful, Fianna, we don't want to get caught, do we?” He said quietly and I shook my head in reply.

He quickly unbuttoned my jeans and shoved his hand down in between my legs. As soon as his electric fingers touched my aching bud, I arched my back against the bathroom door and moaned into his hand. He let out a sexy laugh, definitely loving the power he had over me right now.

Bang, bang, bang...

“Freya!? I heard you scream, are you okay? Open this damn door, right now!” Damien boomed.

He tried really hard to push the bathroom door open, while me and Mason were pressed up against it, in a very compromised position.
