Chapter 43 A Guy Named Ethan

“Hailey, if you want to skip work today, just say the words.” My friend, Kayla, said to me after I told her of the horrific events that afternoon. “You had a bad day today. I am sure that the director will understand if you can’t make it to the photoshoot.”

I was in my trailer truck, where I headed the moment the afternoon classes were canceled because of the incident earlier. Normally, I would have gone home, but whenever I am alone, my mind will automatically fly to the scenario on the roof. My brain would start to fantasize all about the scene. It kept showing me what would have happened if I screwed up at some point and ended up dropping the kid. I shivered and started rubbing my arms out of fear.

“I’m fine. Don’t worry about me, Kayla.” I forced a smile when I looked at her. “I can still do the photoshoot. And besides, isn’t today a very special day? We have a guest arriving soon. I don’t think that it would be nice to ditch work.”
