Chapter 3 - Letting You Go

Lilyana gave her husband a smile, but Jack didn't respond. It's not that Jack doesn't want to return a sincere smile from his wife, but his heart feels empty when he sees his wife lying helpless.

"What's with her? Why does her face look so pale, when this morning she looks healthy?" Jack said in his heart.

Jack didn't understand what was happening to Lilyana. Inside the hospital room Jack felt a deep sadness. Jack's eyes stared sadly at his wife who was lying on the bed. The thick-haired man was really confused, he didn't know who to ask. Jack drew closer to his wife, his hand gently stroking Lilyana's hair. Many questions were running through his mind now, but not a single word came out. Jack's mouth was tightly closed, only his gaze continued to trace every inch of Lilyana's body. Lilyana's face looked deathly pale, her eyes seemed to be dim and as if there was no more light of life. For a moment Jack stared at his wife in such a weak condition. The man who owned the black bead seemed to not believe it when he saw Lilyana lying on the hospital bed. A baby cot was on the right side of Lilyana's bed. There was a tiny baby with a thick blanket and a picture of a stork sleeping soundly. Her pink cheeks make her look cute and sweet. However, all the annoyance she had did not make her father turn his face. Because the father is so busy watching his wife who looks very unwell.

"What is this, why do i feel bad? Wasn't everything fine this morning, so why is it now like this? Did the disease come back? However, Lilyana said that her body was already healthy! Could it be that Lilyana had lied to me?" Jack said in his heart. His mind racing. The man with the scar on his face is looking for answers to his own questions.

"Honey," Jack said to Lilyana.

"Forgive me." Lilyana shed tears, she felt very guilty to her husband for hiding her illness.

"Please don't cry, Honey. It's okay, i'm sure you'll be fine after this," Jack said to Lilyana.

Jack sat on the edge of the bed while looking at Lilyana with emotion.

"I'm sorry," continued Lilyana.

The woman who had just given birth knew very well that she would never be able to recover from her illness.

"No, don't say that, Honey. I'm sure we can get through this," said Jack.

Jack's rough palm gripped onto Lilyana's little hand, only bones covered in skin. Jack now understood why his wife was getting thinner. In the past, Jack thought that Lilyana had lost weight because she was pregnant with their love child, but Jack was wrong. The disease was still entrenched in Lilyana's body and growing. The last time Lilyana said that her cancer was only stage one, and it could be cured with chemotherapy. However, it seemed Lilyana had lied to Jack. The proof is now, the body that looks thin is increasingly powerless against deadly cancer.

"Eleanor, I want to call our daughter Eleanor. Doesn't that sound lovely? I really like that name." Lilyana's voice was low, barely audible.

"All right, whatever you want, Honey." Jack forced a smile on his wife.

Then Lilyana's hand gently caressed Jack's face, she looked at her husband's face closely. It didn't take long for one sentence to come out of Lilyana's lips, "I love you."

After that Lilyana closed her eyes and never regained consciousness. A monitor shows a long, horizontal line. Lilyana's pulse was no longer audible on the medical device not far from her.

"Dear, Dear." Jack felt very desperate, and then he hugs Lilyana's body in his arms. The woman he loved so much was gone, leaving him forever.

"Oh, my poor daughter," Rosse cried when she saw her daughter was gone.

The little baby who has been sleeping woke up and started crying. The little baby also felt a very big loss on the day of her birth. It is not the congratulations that are obtained, but the sorrowful cries that are now heard.

"Honey, is this the end of our story? If so, I will always love you." That was when Jack hugged Lilyana's body one last time.

Five years later.

The past few years have turned Jack into a very different man. His rude and angry attitude makes Jack even more ostracized in the environment where he lives. His memory of always being with Lilyana made him even more depressed. Jack blamed himself for his wife's death, he felt he had neglected to take care of Lilyana. In order to forget his late wife, Jack left the city that had raised him. He went to a town quite far from where he lived.

Kensington-England. At a club Jack accidentally bumps into the body of an unknown man. "Hey, Man. Watch your way!" shouted a man in annoyance.

Jack turns and turn around to the source of the voice, "What do you mean?" Jack looks angry at being reprimanded by a man.

"You hit me earlier! Why are you angry now? Could it be that you're drunk? Then go home to your wife. Ha-ha-ha." The unknown man then laughed mockingly at Jack.

"Why are you bringing up my wife? Do you want to fight with me?" Jack then pushed the man's body with both hands.

"Okay if that's what you want!" The man pushed Jack back violently. A scuffle was inevitable, the two of them had a fistfight in the club. With nothing to separate the two of them duel with bare hands. Then suddenly a loud boisterous crowd was heard along with the sound of loud music. Everyone in the club became amused to see the fight between the two. However, Jack hit the man more and more wildly and uncontrollably.

"Enough, stop!" Several officers came and immediately broke up Jack's fight with an unknown man.

Jack was still eager to hit the man in front of him. However, a man restrained his body, "Hey, calm down!"said the club officer. Because Jack is getting more and more brutal, forced the club officer to expel him rudely.

"Go to the boxing ring if you want to fight!" Throw the club officer at Jack.

"Such a loser!" The two officers then pushed Jack's body out of the club. Jack immediately fell down on the road, he staggered as he was about to get up.

Previously, a glass of alcohol was not enough for him to shake off the loss. Until Jack almost downed the bottle of vodka on the bartender's table. The sun was shining brightly, its light slightly dazzling Jack's eyes, "Is it noon? Or am I coming here too early?" Jack covered his face with his hands to protect him from the sun.

With his head heavy, Jack walked away still drunk. The man was trying to drive his car alone. He had a hard time getting his car keys in, but he succeeded after a few tries. Jack started down the street in the middle of the city with his car, at that time the streets looked smooth and even tended to be deserted.

For a moment Jack stopped his car because he saw a red traffic light. His vision felt a little blurry when he was at a crossroads. While waiting for the green light, Jack tried to look around. Not long after the green traffic light came on, he started his car again. However, suddenly a girl crossed in front of his car. It happened so fast, an accident was unavoidable. Before Jack had time to step on the brake pedal of his vehicle, the girl's body had been thrown far into the street.

"Please someone get hit!" Someone screamed hysterically there.

"What happened?" Jack held his forehead which hurt from hitting the steering wheel. Then he  got out of his car, and looked at the situation. Jack was very surprised to find a girl covered in blood. "Please call the medics! Quickly call an ambulance!" shouted Jack.

"Oh, what a pity!" Several people who were not far away immediately gathered to take a look.

"Hello, there has been an accident ...." Someone called the medics.
