79|Epilogue 4

~Zia~

About thirty minutes into the drive, Xavier parked in front of the cabin by the lake. My mind was somewhere else through the drive; another guilt feeling washed over me. This was our night together, and I pushed my worry about Lu and Penny aside for a bit. I just have to trust that they’ll work things out.

Xavier slid out of the car; I took this chance to shake my worry away as he skirted over to my side, opening the door for me.

Trees shadowed over us, creating a dancing pattern through their leaves as the sliver of the silver moon slipped between the gaps. The gentle purr of the summer wind made the small lights anchored from tree to tree swayed like sparkling stars within my reach.

In my awe, I admired the cabin, small, cozy, made of glass and wood. Yellow lights illuminated the entire place. A rattan sectional with a white cushion and a bonfire faces the water not far from where we are. It was calm and almost still apart from the small waves brought to the banks by the wind, reflecting the star-filled sky.

Damn. Again, he topped all the surprises he did for me.

Turning on my side, Xavier intently watched me, a small smile of satisfaction tugging his lips.

No words. I have no words to describe what I’m feeling.

One step was all it took. I removed the distance between us, flung my arms around his neck, and stood on the balls of my feet. His hands instinctively gripped my hips as I planted my lips on his.

I wasn’t in a hurry. I kissed him softly, aiming to savor this romantic moment. Our lips did a perfect slide and glide, dancing with our hearts’ tune.

He pressed his forehead against mine as we gasped for air, chuckling.

He grabbed my hand, laced his fingers with mine, and tugged me towards the lounge. “Wait here.”

I nodded as I settled comfortably on the soft cushion, feeling the warmth provided by the bonfire even out the gentle wind of the lake.

Xavier reappeared with a bottle of brandless wine, two wine glasses, and a blanket. I reached for the blanket, draping it over my lap as he sat beside me, filling the wine with the ruby liquid.

“There’s no label?” I asked, accepting the glass he offered me.

“Try it,” he said, more enthusiastically than he usually does. I indulge in his excitement, nosing the wine, enjoying the floral and citrus scent before taking a small sip. It was crisp and smooth, with a little pinch of sweetness, just the right taste I wanted with my wine.

Xavier eyed me, waiting for my reaction, and I moaned softly at the pleasure that hit my taste bud.

“Wow,” I mumbled, taking another sip. “This is really good, X. What’s it called?” I looked at him expectantly, wondering if we could order a few bottles to add to his wine collection.

Xavier smirked, taking a sip of his wine. “Zia.”

“Hm?”

“The wine, it’s called Zia,” he said, shrugging his shoulders.

I stared at him, bewildered, wondering if he was kidding or not, searching my mind on when he had the time to make this wine.

“With enough aging, this wine will taste even better, sweeter.” He set his glass down, taking mine and settling the two side by side. “Because Zia is sweet but feisty.” Turning to face me, he scooted closer, lifting me to sit on his lap. I shuffled, straddling him, holding my emotions in. I want to hear everything he wants to say. “There’s that little kick when you had too much. The burning sensation as you take each sip that’ll keep you warm. Fiery, yet smooth and crisp, you’ll crave for more.” His hands traced my arms, up and down, raising goosebumps until both settled on my hips, gripping tightly. “Because that is Zia. Addictive.”

I smiled, biting my lip. “That would be a nice advertisement,” I teased, angling my face so I could capture his soft lips in a sweet kiss.

“You think so?” He tilted his head to the side, regarding me with curiosity. “Then everyone will be addicted to Zia.”

We both giggled at that. How did I get so lucky to be in the presence and center of the universe of this man? The emotions I was holding were on the brink of an explosion. “Thank you. You did so much for me today, Xavier.”

Everything about this night was perfect. Intimate, romantic. All because of him.

“I don’t even have anything to give you,” warmth crawled on my cheeks. “I’m sorry.”

“Nah,” Xavier waved it off, planting a peck on my lips as he tucked my hair behind my ears. “I’ve got two requests, though, and I hope you’d say yes.”

At his words, shivers enveloped my entire body. I’m a bit nervous, but there’s only one way that we’ll end this night. After not having been touched by him for the last two months, I’m a bit edgy and excited about being alone with him. Mostly excited.

Xavier’s eyes squinted knowingly. “Get your mind off of the gutter, my wife.”

I giggled, blushing. “What?” I pouted, giving him an innocent look.

“We’ll get there, don’t worry. We have this place to ourselves, and I’ll make you scream like you never had before.”

“Good lord,” I squirmed in his lap, feeling the fire burning in my core, dampening my lace underwear. “Can we get to that part already?” I ground myself against him, feeling his steel-hard erection against me as I gripped his shoulder tightly.

“Fuck,” Xavier buried his face in the crook of my neck, biting on the skin that had me moaning.

“Xavier…” I raked his hair, tugging unkindly.

“I have to ask you two things, love,” he groaned, holding my hips, halting me from rubbing myself on him.

“I’ll say yes to anything,” I voiced, already worked up with anticipation and lust.

“Let’s move to Sicily,” his words fell on deaf ears.

“Okay,” I replied, already losing myself in the sensation of his lips against my neck.

“Yeah?” His hands resting on my hip ascended to the underside of my breast, teasing me as he flicked his thumb on my pert nipples.

“I’ll go anywhere with you; you know that,” I threw my head back when he cupped my breast, giving both peaks a gentle squeeze. “What’s the second one, X? Hurry up.”

He chuckled on my skin, nibbling my earlobes. “I want a daughter.” He mumbled, hands groping my body.

“Let’s get started with the second one now,” I moaned, and Xavier finally stopped teasing me, claiming my lips for a ravenous kiss. It was hot and needy, turning the fire in my core to a destructive wildfire, aiming to set me aflame.

“I fucking love you,” he groaned, palming my ass as he stood, sauntering the path towards the cabin while I cling on him.

I rained kisses on his face as my legs, and hands clung to him. “I love you.”

I’ve made mistakes in my life, things I could’ve done better, or words I should’ve said to the people I love. Xavier, however, was never a mistake. He was the ‘right’ in all the ‘wrongs’ in my world. Most of all, I’ll never regret falling for my husband.
