Chap 7: Facing danger

On the way back home, Conal saw a car following his car. Conal stepped on the accelerator; the supercar sped away on the empty road. In an instant, Conal's car disappeared at the boulevard intersection. The vehicle following Conal stopped, not knowing which direction to continue. Azura got out of the car; she looked around at all-white snow. Even though it was just over five o'clock in the afternoon, it was already much darker. The weather is also awful right now. In the end, it was still to lose track of Conal. Azura sighed, looking at his decrepit car, too old to follow an expensive vehicle like Conal's.

As Azura was about to get in the car to leave, Conal's soft voice echoed behind her, making her jump.

"So the one who followed me just now was you?"

Conal grinned at Azura. When he knew a stalker, he speeded up the car and stopped by a nearby bush. It was also thanks to the weather like this that he could cover the eyes of the people following him. Standing from afar, looking back, seeing that person was Azura, for some reason, he felt happy. The heavy mood in the afternoon seemed to disappear. On the contrary, if that person was not Azura but someone with bad intentions towards him, perhaps today would be the day that person died.

Azura remained silent, watching him. Although she was cautious not to be discovered, perhaps she was mistaken. Conal is a person not to be underestimated. His personality is unpredictable. Now she understood why such a young Conal could sit in an important position in the corporation.

Conal took out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, pulled out one, and lit it to smoke to dispel the cold of winter. On his body at this moment, only a shirt and expensive vest. Conal leaned back against Azura's car and continued to ask:

"You don't seem to have given up yet?"

Azura avoided Conal's gaze and said, "When did you find out about me?"

"From the very beginning," Conal answered briefly.

Azura also felt that Conal's words were mocking her. It turned out that she was lured here by him and exposed her mission. Azura also felt that Conal's words carried some mockery to him.

At this moment, a loud noise came from the woods, and there were also terrifying growls. No one told anyone; Azura and Conal exchanged glances as if the two of them had sensed danger recently. It seemed that the two of them had discovered something. A minute later, a woman's high-pitched scream rang out. Without thinking any more, Azura and Conal sped together towards the jungle.

It was getting darker and darker, and the snow was getting heavier and heavier. Conal walked ahead, Azura followed right behind him. The growls drew closer and closer to the two of them. As they went deeper into the forest, coldness enveloped the two of them. Suddenly, Conal stopped Azura from moving forward; he pulled her into a large tree, motioning to keep quiet.

A moment later, thanks to the faint light of moonlight, dispelling the mist, the two could see what was ahead of them. A tall, hairy figure was just a few feet away from them. It was none other than the werewolf in wolf form. In his hand was a woman. There was also a rather large bite mark on his neck. At a glance, she was bitten to death by a werewolf and prepared to be his night meal.

Conal looked at Azura and silently signaled that the two would attack the ferocious werewolf together. Then, Conal drew two Glock-17 pistols from his back, ready to fight. When he was about to move forward to fight the werewolf, Azura's arm stopped him, saying, "Don't kill him."

"OK." Conal agreed and started walking towards the werewolf. Azura also quickly followed.

The werewolf, hearing the movement ahead, quickly threw his prey away. Seeing Conal and Azura in front of him, he roared with anger. Once werewolves are in their animal form, their humanity becomes uncontrollable. In other words, he was now a ferocious beast with sharp fangs and sharp claws.

The werewolf quickly dodged when he saw Conal shoot silver bullets at him. Because of the heavy snowfall, it obstructed his and Azura's vision. Since the two were human, attacking werewolves were also somewhat more complex.

The werewolf became increasingly violent; he swung his sharp claws to strike the two. If Conal and Azura don't move quickly, the werewolf will kill them. While the werewolf was fighting Conal, Azura used a sharp knife to cut a deep cut in his leg.

She stopped attacking, thinking he would be like the werewolves Azura fought in Montana. However, he was not only unharmed, but his wound in just a second made her panic again. Azura's attack caught the werewolf's attention. He began to turn towards Azura while scratching furiously. Conal saw the dangerous situation for Azura; he aimed directly at the werewolf's arm and shot. The werewolf howled in pain and pulled his hand back. Taking this opportunity, Conal pulls her out of danger. However, she still suffered a sizable scratch on her arm. Conal gasped and reminded Azura:

"The werewolves here are powerful. Therefore, you needed to attack decisively. Otherwise, it will be you who will die."

As Conal reminded Azura, his hand quickly loaded with silver bullets. He glanced around, looking for the wounded werewolf hiding. Azura and Conal leaned their backs on each other to prepare for battle with the werewolves. Snow and fog mingled together, the two of them trying to muster their vigilance so they could handle the werewolf's surprise attack.

The forest was eerily quiet now. At this moment, only the soft breathing of the two remained. Suddenly, a stream of slime fell on the shoulders of Conal and Azura's clothes. At that moment, werewolves rushed down from above, sharp fangs as if they wanted to swallow two people.

Conal shouted: "Focus on his head and chest."

However, the werewolf was also very smart; it moved quickly to avoid the silver bullets that Conal shot and rushed to the prey in front of him. Conal's gun ran out of ammo at that moment, and the werewolf was rampaging towards him.

"Conal, take it," Azura called out loudly.

Azura did not hesitate to throw Conal the gun in her hand, and she would use the sharp dagger to defend herself. Seeing this werewolf too dangerous, Conal decided he couldn't let him live. He said to Azura, "Sorry for not being able to do as you said."

With that, his eyes turned fiery red. The werewolf rushed towards Conal, but he suddenly slowed down when he saw this scene. Because it knows Conal is an immortal werewolf. Once he transforms into wolf form, there will be no wolf that can fight Conal.

However, Conal had no intention of transforming. He shot a bullet in the middle of the werewolf's forehead. Then add another shot to the center of the left chest. In an instant, the werewolf's massive body fell to the ground. His blood dripped onto the crimson, white snow with a strong fishy smell.

Azura held an arm that was injured by the scratch and walked towards Conal to see the werewolf's figure returning to human form. Conal saw Azura's hand bleeding; he was a little worried: "Are you okay?"

When Conal saw Azura approaching, he covered Azura's eyes with his hand because this dead werewolf was in a state of being naked. "You better not look," he said.

Azura laughed at Conal's action. However, she was used to this image when she was in Montana. Sometimes it's a man; sometimes, it's a woman. Every time they changed from their wolf form to their human form, they were all naked. That's why, every time Azura knocks out the werewolves when they transform, she takes off her cloak and gives it to them.

Then Azura gave Conal a syringe and said:

"Can you get me a tube of blood from him?"

"What do you want to do?" Conal curiously asked Azura.

"I will explain this later."

Hearing Azura says that he didn't ask any more questions. He took the syringe, cleared his throat, and said calmly: "Close your eyes. I can only help you."

"Okay. Thank you."

After saying that, Azura grinned, causing Conal to lose his temper. Look how beautiful she is now.

Just as Conal had finished taking a sample of the werewolf's blood, they suddenly heard a noise in the distance. Conal and Azura quickly left, hiding behind a large tree to examine the situation. The posture of the two men at this moment was a bit awkward. To be more precise, she was sitting on his lap. Conal's robust and muscular arms surrounded her whole body. She smelled the smell of cigarettes and the scent of Bulgarian roses emanating from his body, mingling, radiating around. Azura's face flushed red, a strange feeling creeping into her cold, icy heart.

Conal tilted his head to observe. In the distance, two men were wearing black cloaks that covered their heads. Conal narrowed his eyes to see better, but he couldn't see far with human form vision. After the two people finished examining the corpse, one spoke up. His voice was muffled, sounding somewhat eerie:

"It's silver bullets. Perhaps this werewolf was killed by his kind."

The other also spoke; this voice seemed to belong to a middle-aged man:

"Does that mean the werewolves already know?"

"Not necessarily. Come back. Shouldn't stay here long."

When he knew for sure that the two men in black had left, Conal assuredly let go of Azura from his body. At this moment, the atmosphere between them was a little awkward. The two silently left the forest together.

At this time, Conal took the initiative to say: "Where is your house? Let me take it home."

He realized that his statement might misunderstand Azura, so he quickly explained: "I mean, it's dangerous to go alone with your arm injured like that."

Azura smiled slightly; she glanced at the car and said: "My home is it."

Hearing her words, Conal remembered that Azura had just arrived in California this morning. He propped his chin, thought for a long time, and finally suggested: "For the time being, please come to my house to stay for one night. Tomorrow I will help you find a home. If you agree, then let's go."

Azura was surprised and a little embarrassed when he invited him home. Although she had only known him for a day, somehow, she felt comfortable and safe around Conal.

Seeing her still standing in the same place, staring at him, Conal looked down at her and reminded her: "Hurry up. It is freezing and dangerous here at night."

She startled at his closeness. This action of Conal confused her like she was standing in front of someone she loved. She quickly turned her face, looked away, cleared her throat, and said: "Then lead the way. I drove behind."

Conal glanced at the wound on Azura's arm that was still bleeding and said, "Can you still drive?"

Azura nodded and replied, "I can't leave it anyway."

"Up to you. So let's go."
