Cassy rode across the hill, smiling with her face turned toward the sky. It was a great day for a ride.

It was all perfect. The day. The ride. Lino. Her relationship with him. She knew in her gut that things were going to get better. For all of them.

She brought Morra along, because the woman had seemed to have a lot of work to do. She'd reassigned the task to the other maids and had the woman follow her.

She knew Morra didn't like her much, but she was the only companion she had had for the past few days that was somewhat tolerable.
