Chapter 50. Helena POV

The heat of the ballroom was almost overwhelming upon reentering. As the omega’s ran alongside me with buckets of water and hoses to finally start dousing the flames I looked around for Alexander. My heart raced at the idea he was wounded or even killed, and I ran through the smoky, crumbling room trying to spot him. Suddenly the raging smoke changed to a damp and heavy air as droplets misted across the room as the hoses came into effect. Across the room I saw a black figure under a rafter and ran as fast as I could to the far end of the ballroom, piercing my feet on various broken bits of wood and decoration.
