Chapter Thirty

CAELUM

Some things in life break you, even when you try to maintain the guise you put on, something will always break you. For me, that something has always been her, Aurora.

From the day I laid eyes on that woman, I've been acting a fool, smiling at her whether I was happy or not. My official induction into the Knighthood as a group had taken place the night prior to meeting her, when I went to the men's room I was frustrated because Bishop fucked up our induction rite by killing more than one scoundrel. According to tradition, it's bad luck and dooms the Knights of that generation. But somehow, when I saw Aurora, I felt my anger subside, it was directed to whatever made her cry. A pretty girl like her should never have been crying in the men's bathroom, and certainly not flirting with me like she wasn't heartbroken five seconds ago. I knew I shouldn't have gotten involved with her, but fuck me, she was surreal.
