Eighteen

ALLISON'S POV

I sighed, attempting to focus on the meeting that Chase had insisted I attend. As his assistant, it was my duty to follow him wherever he went, whether I liked it or not. I didn't have much of a choice, considering the consequences if he were to fire me. The thought alone was unsettling, as it would leave me homeless in no time.

But back to the meeting. It was incredibly frustrating. The men couldn't resist throwing sideways glances in my direction, and it was starting to grate on my nerves. Part of me wanted to walk away, but doing so would not only embarrass me but also reflect poorly on Chase. I didn't want to give him another reason to scold me. I had already endured enough of his condescending remarks, treating me like a six-year-old.
