Chapter Thirteen

It did not take me long to locate our first target. When we returned to our room I told Jack what I had learned and a couple of hours later we left the base keeping to the shadows as we headed into the town. It was deserted due to the curfew but I was homing us in on our target like a deadly missile.

At the back of the town was a junkyard full of abandoned American Military equipment and behind it were the caves the townspeople had hidden in the first time the Insurgents had taken over the town. We approached stealthily, hidden by the shadows, stopping when we heard their voices and I listened intently, they were planning to blow up the airport. They knew there would be a huge airlift of evacuees the next day. It made no difference to them that they would be murdering thousands of innocent women and children. They laughed and toasted themselves with their stolen alcohol believing their plan was foolproof. That the ‘stupid’ Americans would be held responsible for
