Chapter 49:

He knew she didn't like the rain, the way she tensed up whenever she heard the thunder brought a sickening feeling to his heart. He did not like that.

She was shaking now. Badly.

"Emma." He gripped her shoulders lightly, his face probing into hers. He couldn't ascertain the color of her face, pure red. She was.... Sobbing?

She was shivering, not shaking, two different things. "Jeremy." Another quiet groan, "It's raining."

"I know. I know." He soothed, God, he had no idea how to deal with issues like this, "Come." He pressed her body towards his, cooling her.

She clutched his dark jacket, weeping in his chest, "I am scared."

"No. Don't be." He sighed, his hands stroking her hair, "I will take you home."

Her eyes bobbed over to him immediately, "No!" She yelled. The tears sprawled on her face, she whispered, "I don't want to go home, the rain is bad out there."
