Chapter 25
Elika tightened her arms around her legs as the car turned onto a gravel driveway, slowly coming to a halt outside the front doors of the dark lord’s mansion. She took a gasping breath as Darkous stood beside the car, glaring in at her.
“So, you have returned. Enjoy your little run?” The dark lord questioned, before turning his attention towards Goodwin as he exited the car. “Thank you Corporal, you will be paid well for this.”
Goodwin nodded, a small smile appearing on his face as he spoke. “Thank you Lieutenant Major.”
The princess watched the exchange, turning her head towards Michael as he also exited the red ford. She closed her eyes briefly, attempting to calm her racing heart. Her fear increased as she remained in the car, the stranger taking the keys with him when he got out.
“Good. Are you just going to leave her in the car?” The dark lord questioned, his tone almost commanding.

Meanwhile down in the basement...Elika had fallen asleep with her head on her knees, the tears that had fallen from her eyes as she thought of her mother and brother’s death still lingering on her cheeks.
