One of the guards glanced towards her, lowering his eyes almost instantly as he began to speak; his tone docile. “It is a sign of respect to royalty, princess. We have been instructed to bow in the presence of all royal blood, it was in our training.”
“Very well, but if you believe that it is a way of showing respect. Then I will do it also.” Elika decided, remembering the tone her mother forced her into using as she lowered her head towards the soldiers; believing that they deserved more respect than she did. After all, they protected the city; ensured that the people were safe and free from attack at all times.

Yelping, the young princess jumped back; bracing herself in the corner of the cage as he struck again, throwing her sideways.He panted, cracking his aching fingers as he glared through the bars at his niece; the suspended cage rocking back and forth. The princess slowly moved onto her knees, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ears as she stared back at him; trembling in terror.“Just deal with the images, they aren’t that bad.” The psychopathic lord muttered as he continued to pace around the metal contraption.“I can’t ...
