Chapter 2

My heart pounded erratically in my chest as I tried to wiggle myself free. At this moment I felt so hopeless. The goddess only knows what’s going to happen to me and it’s all my fault for coming thinking he would show up. No one knows where I am, not even Ginger.

Why did I even think he would show? He refuses to leave the shadows even for me.

I’m the future Queen maybe this gown needs a reminder of just who I am

“Get off me do you have any idea who I am!,” I tried reasoning but he only smirked.

“I don’t give a fuck who you are. You're unmated..”The stranger paused, darting his fat tongue out to lick his small thin lips. “For now,” He smiled mischievously. I managed to free my hand and I slapped him hard across his cheek.

My mother was right, I should have never come here. I’m useless with no way to protect myself from perverts like this. At least my mother Caliana has her amulet that has an ancient power passed down to her from her mother, it was the least she could give my mother after placing a curse on her along with the Caputo and the Desmond men. The amulet seemed like such a small thing to compare what my mother has lost over the years.

His face turned red and his jaw clenched. “You bitch,” He retorted and raised his chubby hand back. I gulped now my parents will know I disobeyed them and came to the forest.

My heart palpitations started again. Just as he brought his hand closer toward my face, another hand grabbed his wrist. The fingers around the thick wrist were covered with different tattoos.

“Nobody touches my mate and lives to tell it,”

Dimitrius, he came. He saved me.

Dimitrius grabs the man by the throat and he gasps for air. “I’m sorry,” The guy cloaked out.

“You will be,” Dimitrius said, claws replacing his fingers and the tips of his claws sank into the man’s skin, blood oozed covering the man’s shirt and Dimitrius’s hand.

“Dimitrius,”

His head turns toward me. I was breathing heavily now. I couldn't get my heartbeat under control. This has been happening a lot lately. Dimitrius sank his claws deeper and the man cried out in pain until his body hit the ground with a thud. I watched in horror as Dimitrius dropped the man’s throat on the ground next to his body, blood was dripping from his hand.

He walks over to me and stands in front of me. He doesn't try to touch me, he doesn't say a word. I look over at the dead body only a few feet away. That man was going to hurt me, killing him wasn’t the answer he needed to trialed for sexual assault and violence toward the future Queen. Dimitrius didn’t care about the rules or the punishment that man was going to hurt me he touched me and Dimitrius didn’t like that. It's wrong and I know that but I don’t care he came, he saved me.

I close the gap between us and stroke his face with my thumb.

“You came,” I whispered.

I frowned when he didn’t say anything. Dimitrius isn’t much of a talker, his dark sunglasses covered his eyes. His dirty blonde hair is tousled from the previous situation. Dimitrius is taller than Cato he has to be six foot two inches maybe more, his clothes straining against his muscles.

A gasp escapes my lips when my back hits the cold merch of the tree and Dimitrius pushes himself against me. My heart beats faster and faster until his lips slam on mine. He grabs my waist, his fingers grazing against the exposed skin on my back.

“Men like that don’t know your mine,” Dimitrius said, pushing impossibly closer. My eyes close when his soft butterfly kisses travel down my neck. His finger softly strokes down the other side of my neck down to my exposed cleavage. He growls against my skin.

“Mark me,” I breathed. My chest was rising and falling harder than before.

“You want to mate with me?” From the sound of his voice he sounded surprised to hear those words. It’s not like I’d be breaking the rules of the contract technically I was promised to Dimitrius first, until his father Tyson decided to kill him off to the world because he was ashamed of him for being blind.

“Yes,” I licked my lips trying to breathe through my nose.

His fingers stroke my cheek, his lip lifts in the corner before he places them back on mine. The kiss feels so good with so many butterflies swirling in my stomach. My heart's beating like this because he makes me nervous and afraid at the same time. So much desire between us so thick you could cut it with a knife. I rub myself against the bulge that gets harder by the minute with every touch it pulsates. My excitement is soaked up by the cotton material of my underwear.

He pushes himself back from me and my eyes immediately go to his crotch and I bite my lip.

“I have to go, I’ll see you soon.” He said, handing me a small box. He grabs my arm and pulls me close and I inhale a deep breath. He still smells so damn good, my mouth waters at the memory of how good his blood tastes. He places a kiss on my cheek.

“Happy birthday beautiful,” He murmurs.

I stood there watching as his figure disappeared into the darkness of the woods. I held onto the box he handed me for dear life as I ran back to the palace with the memory of the goon still fresh in my mind.

I leaned against the palace door soothing my beating heart. I looked down at the box and brought it to my chest and hugged it like my life depended on it. He could end this, he could end all of the heartaches but he won’t. He doesn’t care about me being his mate and that I’m being forced to marry his brother, he wants me to for some damn reason I don’t understand.

I opened the box. Tears peaked in my eyes when I saw the brown rope with rose shaped beads and four white squares that said “Mate” I slipped it on my wrist and opened the door ready to face the questions of where I’ve been.

“Don’t talk to me like that. We’ve been over this, it’s your sister's birthday and you're not rubbing it in that you have a mate and she doesn’t,” Mom tells Sofia and she looks over at me with such sadness in her eyes, sadness that I feel too. But what they don’t know is I do have a mate, he just chooses not to be with me.

Mom looks at me with such admiration that it makes me feel sick.

“That’s wrong mom and you know it. Sofia shouldn’t suffer because I don’t have a wolf. It doesn’t bother me, not any more,” I shake my head. Dimitrius may not want to admit that he wants me but he does. He showed that tonight.

“You can tell Mateo it’s okay to come, I know he’s close by,” I tell Sofia. And I looked at mom and shook my head.

“Stop trying to make me feel better about not having a wolf or a mate. I’m fine just being me, if you keep trying to protect me Sofia and Winter will leave and never come back,” I told her and walked back to my party.

My heart aches that I have to lie to my family but I don’t have any other choice. My family would run and confront the Mortaga’s and I can't have that. I can’t even tell my best friend because her mate is my fiancé and at some point they won’t ignore it.

I wish Dimitrius wouldn’t ignore it and claim me as his but he won't. He doesn't want me that much, but it’s only because he thinks that I deserve better and there is no better than him. I wish he could see that.
