Kotaro and Toya tried running each other off the road all the way to Kyoko’s apartment. They had just rounded the corner to her street when they saw a small boy in odd clothing go flying from Kyoko’s window and land on his back in the front yard.

“What the fuck?” Toya yelled.

Kotaro slammed on his brakes and jumped out of his car. He would have recognized the little brat anywhere.

“Yuuhi,” he growled then caught movement out of the corner of his eyes.

Yohji chose this moment to run from his hiding spot to the stairs leading up to Kyoko’s apartment. His mind was not fully registering the two vehicles that had stopped in front of the building or who was driving them. The only thing on his mind was ‘rescuing’ Kyoko from whatever the freak of nature was that had crawled up to her window.

He saw the boy fall to the ground and nearly laughed. ‘He must have slipped,’ Yohji thought. ‘Use the stairs next time dumb ass.’
