Chapter 3. A new life

I closed my eyes and tried to sleep but aunt Tess's words were still swimming in my head. This is a game changer for Seth. I am a Luna. He thought he could break my heart and get away with it but he can't . I won't let him. He will regret the day he had left me. Vengeance crept into my heart. I did not know how I was going to make him pay, but I was going to.

" Breakfast is ready," I heard aunt Tess's jovial voice from the dining hall.

I was barely even dressed, I hurried as fast as I could almost tripping over my own feet.

"You should be careful. I don't want you getting hurt now."

"Sorry aunt Tess." I said as I sat at the table .

Taking a slice of toast I coated it with strawberry jam. Today was the first day that I actually felt hungry. I was starving. After three months of morning sickness I was now feeling like myself.

We arrived at the coffee shop and it wasn't as little as aunt Tess has said, it was the total opposite.

She gave me the grand tour and showed me how to work the machinery.

I spent the day serving customers, mainly the elite business men of the city. Aunt Tess really had an upmarket venue.

Sliding into a corner booth, I sipped my coffee and chomped on my bagel while looking outside at the busy street.

"Is this seat taken?" A man that looked like he was in his early thirties asked.

I glanced around , noticing that there was more than enough seats available.

I did not reply, I went back to sipping my coffee and enjoying the evening sun, hoping he would get the hint and buzz off.

" I am Tyler." The man took a seat and held his hand outstretched.

I looked up at him, wondering if he was a slow learner.

" I get it. You don't want to talk. You're new here." He continued as if we had become friends. The smile not leaving his face even though I gave him my deadliest look.

Although I had found out I am a Luna, I realised that it meant nothing here in the people world.

I was amongst humans where job status was your rank, and right now I was at the bottom of the rank.

" Can I take your order?" Natasha asked.

"No thank you. I will wait for this lovely lady here to make the most delicious coffee." Tyler replied pointing to me.

I rolled my eyes.

Finishing my coffee I left him in mid sentence. I didn't even know what he was babbling on about and I didn't care.

I spent the afternoon serving everyone else in the coffee shop except him.

I felt his eyes on me but I chose to ignore him. Every other waitress was shooed away by him.

Finally aunt Tess had come to close up. It was 4pm and my feet ached.

Although all the customers left, Tyler sat in the corner waiting.

Aunt Tess looked at him as he finally walked to the counter," Mr Smith, I hope you had service. Meet my niece, Larna."

" Aha. Your niece you say." Tyler smirked." I had the best service today. It was five star."

I didn't know if he was being sarcastic. I held my breath hoping he would not speak of my rudeness.

" Larna. Mr Smith is the CEO of Smith's corporation, and part owner of the coffee shop. I had told him that you will be helping me out here for the next few months."

I wanted to melt and be apart of the floor at that very moment.

Tyler smiled," well Tess, you sure did well. She is one hell of a waitress and she makes a mean coffee. Talking about coffee, do you think I can have another cup, Larna."

Wow, he was really rubbing it in.

"Sure,Mr Smith." I smiled innocently.

" Call me Tyler."

It was after the first day of my bad behaviour, which I was very embarrassed about, that Tyler had stopped by the coffee shop everyday.

" I am quite surprised, Larna. Tyler used to never visit the coffee shop and now he is a regular. I must taste that coffee you make." Aunt Tess laughed.

She took a sip of the cinnamon coffee I had made and spar it out as soon as it touched her tongue." This is awful. It tastes like wet dog."

I took a sip from the cup. She was right, the coffee was awful.

I stepped out onto the busy street. Today was my five month appointment. The sun was so bright , I used my hands to cover it from my eyes.

A car stopped on the side of the road," Get in."

I thought it was a stranger until Tyler stuck his head out into view.

I looked down the street at the busy sidewalk, up at the sun and then decided to get in. My deer already hurt and he wasn't a stranger after all.

" I was stopping at the shop to have your lovely coffee but I guess you won't be there now." Tyler smiled.

" The coffee is awful. Why do you still drink it." I asked curiously.

" It's an acquired taste." Tyler replied." So where am I taking you?

" I have a doctor's appointment, down south on Locksley drive." I replied. Over the weeks we had become comfortable with each other.

" Are you sick?" Tyler almost shouted out.

"Yeah, I'm dying . I have cancer. The oncologist said I should come in today to have a few more tests before he can tell me how much time I have left." I held a serious expression.

" Oh my gosh. That must be so overwhelming. Is there anything I can do for you? Do you need me to come with you for the tests." Tyler stumbled to find words. He was genuinely concerned.

I held a straight face until we reached Locksley drive. He pulled up to the building and it read, " First time moms gynaecologist."

I burst into laughter while he stared at me.

" I am so sorry Tyler. I just had to prank you."

I didn't think what his reaction would be when he saw it was my pregnancy appointment. After all, we were just friends.

" You are pregnant?" He looked at me dead in the eyes. I felt cold from his stare.
