Lady Loretta was dismissing the maids to clear the used plates and empty bottles and to also tidy up the living room after all the guests had left her mansion. She noticed the lady wincing in pain and alighting the staircase with so much difficulty.
"Melody," Lady Loretta looked shocked upon seeing how Melody looked so disheveled, like she was beaten to a pulp. "What happened to you?" Lady Loretta inquired in shock while all the maids in the living room also paused to look at Melody, and they gasped at the horror at which they previously saw the arrogant lady now look. "Milady, it was one of the maids. The maid you assigned to show me to the top floor. She dealt with me." Melody managed to speak as her cheeks were visibly swollen. "You mean Miranda did this to you? I don't believe it. Miranda is innocent and cannot hurt a fly. Ever since Miranda has been working here with us, she hasn't gotten into a fight with any of the maids that I am aware of. Are you sure you're referring to Miranda or another maid who did this to you?" While the older woman was busy questioning Melody after all the guests had left the mansion, Derrick walked back into the living room and looked stunned upon seeing there was still a guest left. "She did this, ma'am. I cannot lie to you. Miranda lied about me to Master Derrick, and after he left us, she pounced upon me and dealt with me to this extent. She is evil, ma'am." Melody started sobbing upon seeing Derrick looking at her. "What's happening here, Mom?" As Derrick asked the question, he strolled up to meet his mother. "Mom, you know it's already late. You should get some rest," Derrick said, not casting a glance at Melody, who had thought and expected him to summon the maid. After Melody had lost her job, she expected Miranda to also lose her job as a maid in the exquisite villa. Melody knew she didn't stand a chance of getting closer to Derrick again. He was mostly busy in the office and attending business-class meetings. Similarly, she didn't have an excuse to use to see him either. Alexa was there as his secretary, and many other top female staff members long to be with Derrick. "Mom," looking at his aged mother, whose hair was filled with gray hair, Derrick frowned, and his mother said, "Derrick, I will return to my room. But where is Miranda if Melody accuses Miranda of beating her up?" "Do not worry yourself, Mother. I will have the guards investigate what happened. Melody, you may leave now," Derrick dismissed. He does not care to summon Miranda out. He walked with his mother along the stairs and assisted her in returning to her room on the top floor. It took the older lady hours to climb the flight of stairs, and Derrick considered relocating his mother's room to a room on the ground floor. Arriving at Lady Loretta Luis's room door, Derrick paused and gently opened the door. The maid knows it is best to avoid him, especially when he is with his mother. "Mom, you should get enough rest. I don't want anything to go wrong with you," Derrick said to his mother in a hushed tone after accompanying her to climb on the bed. Lady Loretta and Derrick were both dark in complexion. She smiled at her son's care and replied, "I am fine, but you know what will make me happy and rest well if you settle down. Your father had worked so hard to acquire all this wealth for you. I am already over 70 years old, and you don't expect me to remain youthful. You should consider marrying a wife. It's not until you get to thirty that you should do so, my son." Holding his mother's warm left hand as she laid on the bed, he heard saying, "My wish for you is that you should find a good woman who will love you very much, pamper you like her baby, take good care of you while I am away, and watch you both from heaven." "Mom," Derrick interrupted his mother's words with a frown. "You aren't leaving me anytime soon." Tears gathered in the corners of his eyes; as his mother mostly spoke to him about leaving, and he wished he could exchange all their wealth for a longer life so she wouldn't leave him. "It's life, Derrick. We have to go for the world to become balanced and to allow our generations to continue from where we stopped. But I am not leaving you anytime soon. I still want to see you settle down first and to see the next heir of Luis firm." "That's fine, Mom. I guess I should leave you to rest now. Have a sound sleep." Derrick leaned over and kissed his mother's forehead goodbye. She smiled and watched him exit her room. Meanwhile, in the master's bedroom of the exquisite mansion, Miranda soaked herself in a warm bath inside one of the luxury bathrooms. "Oh my goodness! This feels so good," she said, not caring for the consequences of her actions. She had hurried into this room, and it was totally different from the other rooms that she was assigned to take care of downstairs. "Mm," Miranda mumbled, enjoying herself in a warm night bath. After dealing with the silly lady who dared to slap her, Miranda thought to show the lady what it feels like to be dejected. She was not a lady to take sh*t from others, but after coming from a lower-class family and also becoming an orphan at a younger age, Miranda knew the world had no respect for the poor, so she wanted to become rich, even if it meant climbing on others to attain that. She admires the good life, wants a good job, and wants to own a big supermarket or shopping mall in her name. Thinking about her life struggles, Miranda didn't care how much time she had spent soaking herself in this exquisite, large, pristine bathtub. The bubbling waters filled with scented soap soothe her body, and accompanied by the chilly weather of the night, Miranda doesn't feel like coming out of the bath. She wanted to sleep there and forget all her worries. She had even let her blonde hair fall behind her back. She was extremely beautiful, but she remembered the slap that Melody had given her. Miranda felt like strangling the lady's neck, but she knew she would be jailed and no one would come for her rescue. "Mmmmm." Miranda enjoyed herself inside the bathtub until she heard the sound of the room door shut. "Who's there?" Miranda asked, thinking she was in her maid room on the lower floor of the mansion; however, reality dawned on her that she was in one of the children's rooms. "I hope this isn't Master Derrick's room," Miranda lowly muttered until she heard the bathroom door slide open.Derrick left his mother's room, deciding to retire back to his own room to rest. The night was chilly, and it also seemed like it was going to rain soon. Derrick reflected on what his elder sister had said concerning him dating Alexa. He liked Alexa, but he wanted to focus on his father's firm first and expand it to other states as well as open mini-branches all over the world. Returning to his room, Derrick noticed the unfamiliar scent that lingered in the air. Switching on the wall switch, his deep blue eyes darkened at the sight of the lady's gown and pants he saw on the tiled marble floor. Not only that, he heard a feminine voice humming inside his bathroom. His room was vast, very spacious, and inside his bedroom, he had a study room, a relaxing room, and a library where he studied some of his books before he graduated two years ago. He also had a private gym if he did not want to go to the main gym downstairs, which he shared with his elder sisters. They were all married and
Derrick hadn't thought he would be able to resist Miranda. She was so alluring; her captivating presence had awakened something deep in him, and after returning to his bathroom, he wanted to take a bath to relax his arousal, but then he remembered Miranda had used his bath. Never had Derrick shared his bathroom with anyone before; now a maid of low status dares to use his bathroom and also his sponge and soap. Derrick felt irritated and wanted to discipline the maid, but how would he report such news to his mother? His mother was already over 70 years old. What if his mother had a heart attack and fainted as a result of the shock? "No, I cannot let my mother find out about this," Derrick said. He was enraged as his desire still throbbed and ached, needing that round figure to cool it off. "Damn it! What kind of temptation is that? I guess I should have that maid fired tomorrow morning. Isn't she the same maid who dared to beat up Melody to that extent? I see that she's on a mission
"Oh!" Miranda rubbed her sleeping eyes, as she would have loved to have more wonderful dreams. However, as her big brown eyes fell on the wall clock in her room, Miranda gasped, "Oh my goodness! 10 am." Well, the day is Saturday, but Miranda knew that Lady Loretta mostly picked on her to make her tea and also to attend to her other services. Rushing out of bed without any other care in this world, Miranda quickly ran out of her maid's room, rushing out before Juliet, who shook her head with disgust. Juliet was two years older than Miranda. Juliet was a single mother, but she hid it from the Luis family. Juliet had gotten the opportunity to work in the Luis family home after she was kicked out of her parents' home. Her parents were rich, but Juliet couldn't identify the man who had gotten her pregnant. She fell pregnant out of wedlock, and that was against her parents' standards. She had one night with a mysterious man; she knew if she saw the man again, she would identify him, but
"Derrick, come here. I would like to have a word with you," Lady Loretta said as she called her only son back. She knew that Derrick was not pleased with her actions in pardoning Miranda; however, she liked Miranda a lot, and since Miranda had not wronged her personally or done anything wrong to the other maids, she couldn't simply terminate Miranda's employment at her home.More likely, Lady Loretta had more hidden objectives. She could not just disclose her plans yet, as she had taken Miranda away from the orphanage home personally and enrolled the young woman in school. There was a time when Lady Loretta had gone to the orphanage home for one of her leisurely, kind-hearted works. There she saw the beautiful young girl, who was not happy and was mostly staring at the door.Lady Loretta knew the young girl's wish was to leave the orphanage home and go outside to the world beyond and establish herself. She never disclosed to Miranda that she was the woman behind Miranda's freedom. She
"Mother, I would like to take a stroll outside to clear my mind on something like I said before," Derrick said as he immediately looked away from Miranda. He saw the pain in her eyes and how she had stared at him accusingly. 'What did I do wrong to her?' Derrick wondered as he quickly averted his gaze to his mother. Miranda quickly informed Lady Loretta, "Ma, I have prepared your tea. Your breakfast is served." "Good. Derrick, come join me for breakfast first before leaving. Miranda woke up late today, and upon her rudeness last night, she decided to have me starve this morning. Forgetting that she had to prepare my tea," Lady Loretta commented as she rose from the couch and strolled ahead to the dining table to have her seat. Derrick accompanied his mother, gently pulling out a chair for her to take her seat. He said, "And that's why I told you to fire her. Anything that causes you pain shouldn't be kept closer to you." "Derrick, I would not like to think that is how you fir
Even Miranda was taken aback by the new man's words. She just walked into the living room, slowly closing the door behind her back. Miranda didn't want to believe that Alex was as troublesome as Derrick."Oh! That was a rude thing to say, Alex. You should have simply said that you dated Juliet before. I know Juliet Colton is not from a poor home like the rest. She is a classy, bossy girl who also exudes an air of superiority. I did my research about her and heard she had a child out of wedlock, which is the reason her billionaires' parents' sent her away from their mansion.""She was pregnant?" Alex looked stunned, but Juliet was more than embarrassed that her life secret was now public knowledge. She immediately ran away from the living room to hide her shame."Juliet, where are you running off to?" Lady Loretta asked in a low voice. As she called Juliet back, but the latter didn't respond and ran away to her room. To cry it all out.The tension in the living room intensified, and Mi
Looking confused, Miranda did not understand where Lady Loretta was driving at."I don't understand, Ma," Miranda said. Lady Loretta offered her a warm smile."I know that you're not happy about what Derrick stated about the lower-class families. You shouldn't be annoyed with him. It is one reason you shouldn't eavesdrop on other peoples' conversations." Lady Loretta emphasized."I am sorry, Ma," Miranda offered her apology, with her head bent low."It's okay. Come sit here. You know, I have always wanted to speak to you about this, for a very long time. But I haven't had the chance to discuss this with you," Lady Loretta added. Miranda finally raised her head up and looked at the older woman."I should come and sit beside you?" Miranda had to repeat the question to be sure she was not hearing double. What if Master Derrick came in and saw her sitting with his mother? Wouldn't he fire her and find that disrespectful? Miranda wondered, and her hesitation to sit beside the older woman w
Miranda went to the maids quarers on the left wings of the mansion. The maids were busy gossiping about Juliet and Alex, Lady Loretta's grandson.Miranda summoned two maids to accompany her, and they went up to the top floor to Lady Loretta's room to gather her clothes and take it downstairs. As Miranda did not know which room belonged to the older lady, the other two maids showed her to the room, and soon they started gathering most of the older lady's valuables.Miranda thought about what Lady Loretta had told her earlier about adopting her because she wanted her to become her daughter-in-law. A sad smile played up Miranda's lip, as she also truly admired Derrick, but she knew the housemaster looted her the most. The girls focused on gathering the clothes first and taking them to the lower floor of the mansion.Meanwhile, Derrick left the mansion and took a stroll outside to clear his mind. He had a business meeting the following day, and his mind wondered about how he would ask Al
