As I watched my mother and Savannah's mother walk out of the main entrance, I couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was off. I hurried to catch up with them, leaving my documents at the main desk.

“Hey, what are you two doing here?” I asked, trying to keep my voice casual.

My mother gave me a warm smile. “Oh, Arthur, we just wanted to thank the woman who saved Hayley. It was such a brave thing to do, and we thought she deserved to hear our gratitude in person.”
