Chapter 49

Ella Williamson.

I looked down at the box I'd placed on my lap with broken eyes. The mere thought of my father leaving me something truly saddened me.

I hadn't expected my grandfather to speak to me all on my own, especially since Elijah constantly warned me not to walk off. But seeing as he gave me his permission to go, I'd wanted to see how my grandfather's health was.

I did not expect him to whip out the box and demand I take it.

After Elijah and I got back to the Mansion, I got out of the car and came straight to the room. I made my way to the bathroom and closed the door behind me, seeking some sort of privacy as I tried to sort through my mixed feelings.

I sat on the edge of the bathtub and placed the flat black box on my lap.

That was about thirty minutes ago.

Letting out a sigh, I slowly opened the box and looked in again, wondering why my father would leave me this.

He should have known better than to waste his money on a necklace I wouldn't wear.
