Chapter 49: Cold Feet

Sapphire's POV

Today is the day...

I gazed into the full-length mirror, my eyes flickering and my delicate hands running down the fabric of my strapless white mermaid dress. I stared for a long time at my reflection as I trailed my fingers all over it. The fabric was a smooth, shimmering, sleek satin with intricate lace detailing and the tiny seed pearls that dotted it.

It flowed down perfectly in a long train behind me. And my hair was held up in a proud, regal afro bun, with a tiara blinged out in tiny diamond stones. I sighed, my reflection staring back with a hint of resignation.

I was finally getting married.

"Must be nice," I muttered to my reflection, my voice laced with bitterness and uncertainty. The thought of marrying a billionaire had its perks, yet here I was, standing and musing about it.
