Juniper

I used the full strength of my air magic, and we began moving so fast that the trees became a green blur. We reached the widest part of the stream, and without even communicating our plan, I used my magic to help Drew leap over to the opposite bank of the stream, and he continued running into the more dense part of the pack forest.

I could feel my hair streaming out behind me, small strands whipping and tickling my face as Drew darted around the trees. I felt freer than I had in a long time, and I lifted my head up to soak in the small rays of sun that were breaking through the canopy leaves, my arms flinging out to the sides, my legs gripping the sides of Drew’s wolf as he slowed down.

We came to a stop in the middle of a small circle of closely grown trees, and I slid off his back, still laughing slightly to myself. I ran my hands through my hair, trying to untangle the strands, regretting not putting it in a braid or a bun before our training today.
