CHAPTER 04

EMILY:

I shouldn't have returned back to my home. When I got there, my house was burning with every damn thing in it. This scared the freaking hell out of me, and it felt like I had someone on my trail.

Everything was in there. My clothes, my documents, but I cared less. I was freaking more worried about who the hell would do this to me, or who the hell was after me.

With my heart pounding so hard against my ribcage, I was set to run far away from town. Sadly, I had no money. Whoever came here must have been looking for me.

I turned around and began walking away. I ran as far as I could, not minding the fact that I was tired. Thankfully, I had the stranger to thank for saving my life by nabbing me.

I was still running without the slightest idea where I was heading to.

I suddenly tripped and fell on the floor when I heard a sound. A deep breath escaped my mouth as I heard the sound of a dog barking and a cat rushing out of the trash can

"Oh God, please help me." I murmured silently to myself taking off my shoes as my legs were already hurting so bad. I had to get a cab, but there was no money on me.

At every step I took, I turned back to look out if I was being followed by anyone.

Without knowing, my shoulders brushed that of someone else by mistake.

"I'm sorry."

He ignored me and continued walking. I decided not to say another word and continue walking, but then I began to see the shadows of someone trailing behind me. The fear of turning back made me hasten my footsteps, but as I did so, the shadows behind me also did the same.

Fear gripped me even more, and when I was certain the stranger was after me, I began to run away while he ran after me. He was catching up to me because I wasn't fast enough.

I felt an arm grab my shoulders and pull me back. Before I could fall, he held my waist so I wouldn't lose balance. He smiled at me and then used a white cloth to cover my nose. The smell of the intoxicating substance made me lose consciousness immediately.

________

A light groan escaped my mouth. I couldn't see clearly yet, but I could feel that I was on something really soft. When my vision became clear, I found out I was in a room.

"Hey, help! Is someone out there?" I called but there was no one. I couldn't think of anybody who would want to harm me except Mia.

"Somebody help me." I yelled again, but no one seems to be coming for me. It was like the room was soundproof so no one would hear me outside.

I couldn't move because I was chained to the bed.

Goodness, I was beginning to regret why I walked out that gate in the first place. The thought of my life being in danger made my skin crawl with so much fear.

"Help me!"

When I figured out there was no use shouting and that it was only making me lose more strength, I decided to keep quiet and wait for what would happen next.

A few minutes after my decision, the door opened and Ethan walked right in. At first, I was dumbfounded.

He had a smile on his face as he saw me.

"Hey baby."

"Ethan! What the hell?"

He sat down on the bed close to me and touched my face. His fingers trailed its way down to my lips and he rubbed it. "I miss those." He whispered, leaned closer to me and kissed me.

"What the hell do you think you're doing Ethan?" I questioned with watery eyes.

"I couldn't let you walk out of my life, Emily. Don't you get it? I'm still very much obsessed with you."

"Ethan, this is crazy. No, you're crazy. Listen to me you bastard!"

"Save your words for later, baby, cause you'll be needing it soon."

His words made me so scared. "What do you mean by that?"

"I did every possible thing I could to make you forgive mez but you wouldn't. I even went as far as… Oh shit!"

"Were you the one? The fire?"

He turned his back on me. "Say something you son of a freaking bastard! Did you burn down my house."

"I'm so sorry Emily, I really am."

I was breathing hard. "You'll pay. I swear to God, Ethan you'll pay." I screamed at him. He came towards me and held my chin forcefully.

"I said to hold your strength for later. Do you think you can hide anything from me? Huh? I know of your sneaky little secret. I know why you are hell bent on leaving me Emily, I know it all if you think I'd let you keep that thing inside of you, then you're fucking joking."

My eyes widened in shock. "How…"

"Shut the hell up, Emily. How dare you! How dare you go behind my back and do something stupid. You're not gonna have any baby that isn't mine. Not on my watch."

There was a sudden knock on the door before I could speak up.

The door was opened and a man stepped in. He was the same man from earlier. He was the same man I had mistakenly brushed shoulders with.

"Is everything ready?" Ethan asked.

"Yes, I got a professional doctor."

"A doctor! Ethan, what the hell are you trying to do? Leave the baby out of this, please, I'll do anything you want. I'll come back to you, just leave the baby out of this." I begged, but he only scoffed aloud.

"The only baby you'd be having in the future is mine, mine alone." He said.

I kept shaking my head as tears ran down my face. I would die before anything happens to this baby.

"Listen to me princess, you're gonna sleep for a long time and when you wake up, it'll all be over." He whispered to my ears and collected an injection from the man standing behind him.

"No! No! No." I kept begging, but he injected me with the sedative. "That's my princess, sleep now." I heard him whisper as I grew calm.

"I'm never going to forgive you, Ethan." There was a smile on his face and slowly, darkness took over me.
