Chapter 11

Quinlan

After waiting for Ronika to come up after sending for her, I decided to go downstairs. I could hear laughter from the top of the concrete staircase. When I rounded the kitchen corner, Ronika and Aria came into view, seated on the kitchen counter stools by the counter, each with a cup in their hands. The rest of my staff were not present, including my grandma, who had promised to come by.

"I'm telling you, she spent the night with Quinlan." Ronika chuckled, but I could feel an edge in her voice. I knew right away that they were talking about Clara.

"She has no shame. I'm glad you put her right in her place," Aria answered as I stood behind them. They were too engrossed in their cheap gossip to hear me approach.

"You should have seen her face; god, she looked like she had been hit with a rotten egg," Ronika added, letting out a loud laugh, Aria joining her.
