Willow sat with the white book in her lap, her fingers gently grazing the soft leather as she hesitated to open it. She felt the familiar warm hand on her upper back as she glanced over to her lover. He nodded slowly, encouraging her to take the next step. She took a deep breath, slipping her fingers beneath the cover and opened it. For a second nothing happened, but then a bright white light blinded her vision as she felt a force pull her very essence from her body. On instinct she wanted to fight it, but she knew she needed to surrender in order to receive the answers she needed. So, she let go. She relaxed her body, cleared her mind and the intensity of the white light lessened until her vision darkened once more. She felt a cool breeze against her cheeks and the sound of an owl hooting softly in the distance. Crickets sounded around her as she opened her eyes to an unfamiliar scene. He drummed his fingers on the table in front of him, his eyes barely slits as he struggled to maintain his full attention to the human speaker at the podium. The candlelight flickered in front of him, lifting his gaze from the paperwork before him and looked about the small room. Grey wallpaper and thin black carpet.
