Coffins Lined

The two of us frantically went to work, with me giving Karen a boost up to the duct. Karen clambered in, wriggling through the air duct, with me waiting below. Karen pushed hard, and the rusted vent cover gave way, falling to the floor below.

I quickly leaped up, pulling myself through the hole and landing on the other side. Then relieved ourselves with the anti-werewolf spray, seeing an end in sight.

A bright light shone down as we finally reached the exit, having gone through what seemed like maze-like ducts. As the two of us took our first steps out of the building, our heads whipped around, scanning the empty street for any signs of the police.

"Let's go home," I said, looking over at Karen.

"Are you we can make it there?" Karen whispered, she hesitated.

"Just stay behind me, okay?" I grab her hand and hold her tightly without any signs of malice. Tight enough that I have no plan to let her go no matter what.
