"What about the autopsy result?" Jackson reminded me of that one. The autopsy report would be our last resort to point out Simon for the murder.

"Oh, yeah, speaking of that." says the Sheriff before he reached out for his wristwatch. "It'll be done by now." then he went back to his office.

Jackson and I sat anxiously in the waiting room of the Sheriff's office, impatiently waiting for the results of the autopsy.

As we sat nervously for almost three hours, the door to the office finally opened and the Sheriff walked out. Jackson and I both stood up quickly, our hearts beating fast in anticipation.

The Sheriff looked at us for a moment, then cleared his throat and began to speak. "I'm sorry to have to tell you this," he said, his voice somber. "But we've determined that two died of an accidental overdose. They had a lethal combination of drugs in their system, and there was nothing anyone could have done to save them."

Jackson and I both sank back into our seats
