Nineteen

OLIVIA'S POV.

I took a deep breath and looked up at the plaque on the wall once more. My eyes scanned Davion's face, and I felt bile rise in my throat. I couldn't work for a man like him, no matter how much money he promised to pay me.

"I quit," I said, my voice coming out stronger than I thought it would.

The woman who had been interviewing me raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me?"

"I said I quit," I repeated, feeling a surge of satisfaction. "I don't want to work for a company with a bratty and pompous CEO."

The woman seemed taken aback, as though she had never heard of such a thing before. "But... you haven't even started working yet."

"I don't care," I said, my tone firm. "I refuse to be a part of this company."

I grabbed my bag and stood up, my heart pounding. I had no idea what I was going to do now, but I knew that I couldn't work for Davion. As I stomped out of the building, I cursed Karma for always coming my way. Why couldn't I catch a break?
