A lucky man

Robert stood up to greet her, placing a hand on Alice's waist, and it wasn't necessary to draw her in because she stepped up beside Robert, lifted her face, and subtly sought her partner's lips. Before anything, Robert smiled.

"How lucky am I?" he asked with a wide smile.

"We'll see tonight," Alice whispered after kissing him. "Did you miss me much?" she took a seat next to Robert, after declining to sit on his lap.

"I'm tired," Noelia stood up, unable to bear how Alice monopolized all the attention, including her husband's. It was downright audacious how Cedric looked at her!

"Well, I'm off to bed too," Noelia approached her mother-in-law, taking her by the hand to lead her to her room. But before she completely left, she dropped the last words that would make the situation between them genuinely tense.

"Aren't you coming, Cedric?" she asked her husband. That question shouldn't have even been asked; she expected Cedric to say the same as her, that he was going to bed.
