Hollow

Inside the spacious and luxurious but dull-coloured CEO's office of the Euston's Corporations, a handsome looking man with a serious face bent down facing the documents he was scribbling something on, he kept the document at one side of the table after a while of going through them and took out another paper from the drawer of his expensive mahogany office table, his dark eyes narrowed as he scanned through the paper and a deep frown settled on his brows while massaging his forehead with a pen.

"Hey, Drew! What's up, bro?"

Justin suddenly entered the office without bothering to knock or seek permission before entering and it earned him a glare he was used to from Drew, it wasn't his first time barging into his office like that when he wasn't needed because it happens almost all the time.

Justin Bellomy wasn't just a personal assistant to Drew Euston, he was also a very close friend and he was the only person who knew Drew very well he never missed a chance to tease and poke at Drew because he enjoyed every angry reaction from him, though he was the troublesome kind, he knew and understood every bodily reaction from Drew, Phoebe was always the water that was there to cool off the fire between the two grown-ups with one behaving like the naughty junior and the other like the tolerant senior.

"I don't remember calling for you"

Drew's hollow but deep voice filled with nothing but authority rang out in a low pitch.

Justin tsked as he stared at Drew before making himself comfortable on a couch.

"I was too bored and I came to suggest we go out somewhere to cool off"

Drew raised his head from the paper he was looking at and stared down at Justin which could have made any other person flinch and pee on their pants but not Justin, he stared back at Drew with innocent eyes as if he knew nothing but only god knew how much he wanted to guffaw out without any restrictions but he continued with his act.

"I am busy and I know you have eyes to see, leave my office and I'll call you when I need you later"

Drew said his words with finality and turned back to what he was doing but Justin was just too deaf to comply.

"Sigh. Seeing how boring and hollow you are right now, I think you should get a wife immediately, someone soft that could withstand your cold nature but not that mute girl of the Cintron."

Justin gave a scornful look at Drew when he mentioned the girl of the Cintron, he was confused as to why his friend chose that kind of girl to marry, it was shocking to him, but he purposely said what he said to make Drew spill out his reason because he curious and he was scared his curiosity would kill him if not satisfied. Drew lifted his head again and looked sharply at Justin…Why did he pick Cintron's mute daughter?... He had no reason why he chose to marry her but all he knew was that each time he would see her, he would find himself attracted to her for no reason at all. Of course, like any other elites out there, he attended business parties and other social gatherings and though, he was always low-key, he never failed to watch her from wherever he sat. It had happened for a very long time now but he made no effort to make a move and would only stare from a good distance and her beauty was what he could not get over with.

Although she had a twin sister whom they shared the same look with but something about her made her stand out, he would always see her quiet in a corner and with her face blank with no emotions to express, contrary to her other twin, she hated attention on herself because of the kind of eyes people set on her due to her mutism which wasn't a piece of news to anybody in the social circle. He suddenly received the information from his reliable assistant (Justin) that Mr Cintron was asking for a partnership with their company and even received numerous business letters for an alliance Mr Cintron stated the alliance through marriage to his infamous daughter and he agreed without further hesitation.

"Help me to find out the reason behind Adaline Cintron's mutism, check any information about her past and see if there's anything you can find, maybe if she had any traumatic event that triggered her mutism, now."

Justin gave a teasing smile to Drew after he heard his instructions Drew had no time for his banters at all but he was too stupid to get the message.

"Awww! Such a caring husband or should I say, soon-to-be husband? But you haven't told me your reason for choosing her, I may die out of curiosity, c'mon!"

Drew's jaws ticked at the way Justin was suddenly behaving.

"Justin?" His low voice called out in a threatening manner which Justin did not miss.

"Okay, fine fine, am going but cou….."

"Out, NOW!!"

And Justin scurried out of the office to get work done immediately or he would get roasted alive.

"Does he have to be so harsh?"

Justin mumbled as he walked out and into the elevator, as much as he wanted to still provoke Drew to no end, he was also curious too about the girl. What kind of traumatic experience could have possibly made her like that? His thoughts were interrupted by the female masculine voice he was very familiar with.
