Miracle Happens

Alex stepped out of her apartment with a red scarf around her neck.

The breeze blew past her face and she stood for a while before moving.

It was Christmas and the winter air was at its peak. It's not a new thing. Winter on Christmas can freeze you to death.

The street was so Christmastic, every corner was decorated with Christmas lights.

And children singing voices were heard. Typical Christmas in Greywave, it's always like this every year.

GreyWave and her people don't joke with Christmas because they believe so much that the Savior of the world was born during that period which is absolutely the truth to the Christian Brethren.

It's a season of love and homing coming for many and it's only a few that does not partake in the celebration because of whatever they believe in.

A lot of weddings happen and so many others, it's in this period that the noble gets to display their nobility.

Those who have cash spend them and the billionaire gangs cruise the community.

Alex figured out that wailing and hoping for a love that is long gone was not her ideal way of spending Christmas Eve. She was supposed to be somewhere in town having dinner with Luke.

If love fails here definitely she would find something which will make her Christmas Eve.

She spoke well to those she encountered on her walk and smiled at whatever caught her fancy.

The walk was refreshing and she was gradually forgetting the event of her break when but not so fast, the scene that played in her front brought back old memories.

This guy was on his knees with people cheering him on as he proposed to his fiancee who happily accepted him. This could have been her accepting Luke's proposal one day.

She has hoped that their relationship would lead somewhere. There was no sense that the relationship could end soon

It's still a shock to her, what a world!

She felt betrayed and cheated, why did Jake take it this long to say goodbye to her when he knew that he was going to say goodbye eventually?

She felt her cheeks hurt and realized she had been crying.

"Ma'am, are you okay"

She jotted back to reality. She saw two pairs of eyes staring at her and those eyes belonged to a teenage boy who was in a red t-shirt and green trousers. It's obvious he is coming from Christmas functions.

Alex wiped her tears and sniffed back the ones that are yet to come out.

"My dear, it's nothing. Was admiring that couple over there. The way the guy proposed to the girl got me all tearing up. It's pure love"

The teenager stared at her and nodded his head. He knows there is more to the tears but decided not to pry into her personal life.

"Alright ma'am, it's just that you have been standing at a place for some time now, and since you are okay. Let me go back to my family. By the way, I am called Leon"

He stretched his hand and Alex took it.

"I am Alex, thanks for checking on me, and nice meeting you"

Alex found herself saying it with ease unlike a few minutes ago.

"The pleasure is all mine. Let me run along now but before I go, you need to know that wishes come true and miracles happen. Don't stop believing in having the best out of your life"

He said, bowed slightly, and left after he waved goodbye to Alex

Alex stood and stared at him. Do miracles happen? Can her wish come true, she doubts that.

She shook her head and started walking again.

***********

"Hey man, you just arrived?"

Luke's best man to be, asked him as he just drove into the avenue for his bachelor party.

Lucas had been here for over twenty minutes waiting for this dude but he has taken more time than required. He had told them he was going to end it with his ex-girlfriend. Imagine calling someone who is not your ex, ex before she becomes the ex. To Lucas, Luke was heartless.

He has known this Alex girl for a while now and she has got no problem. There is nothing not to love about the girl. It is just that humans would not understand the value of what they have until they lose it.

But what can he do, he is just his friend and nothing more, Luke would never hear a word of advice from anyone. So he can't kill himself.

"Yeah man, I finally ended it with her but I am disappointed at her attitude"

Luke said and stepped down from his Range Rover. He wore this proud look of a man who had achieved something great.

Lucas shook his head and stared at him.

"Congrats then. Your old man called and claimed that he has been calling you but you failed to pick up"

Lucas relies the message that has kept him waiting at the door of the bar.

Why in the world would they host a bachelor party in a bar when Luke has got a large apartment plus his family has space for all kinds of parties? If foolishness was a person it's definitely Luke.

"Yeah I did not want to go through his trouble so I did not pick up beside I was driving."

Luke replied nonchalantly and made it to walk past him but Lucas held him back.

You should have picked up the call, he sounded urgent. He said you should call him back when you are done with your nonsense."

Lucas said and walked into the bar.

Luke stared at Lucas as he made his way into the bar and he wondered why his grandfather had to call and needed him to call back.

Hope this is not one of his troubles because he is not going to have it with him, he definitely hopes so.

He dipped his hands into his pocket to bring out his phone but realized the phone was not there. He might have forgotten it in his car so he turned back and headed towards his car.
