Unlucky In Love

Luke felt hurt by the brutality in which she wished him a merry Christmas. He was supposed to be happy that she did not make it difficult for him. She had understood but he had wished she fought a little. Truth is he was not expecting her to accept their break up, guess he wanted her to beg him to stay.

He wished as she disappeared inside and knew for sure that this is the last time he is setting his eyes on her. His wedding is tomorrow and he needs to be at the bachelor party organized by his bachelor friends.

Getting married at last.

He sighed and palmed his face

It's goodbye for the last time.

"Merry Christmas, Miss Coker"

They are now back to formality. How things end before they begin.

He closed her door and stepped into the mood of the evening,

Alex got to her room and slumped on the floor. She doesn't know whether to cry or laugh but she has to do one and that's to cry.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh".

She screamed and screamed. What the heck is wrong with the world? Why today of all days? How her supposed best Christmas Eve turned into her worst Christmas eve. Why did Luke choose to bless her with a breakup?

Was it a crime to love?

Someone needs to answer her, she needs answers to her questions.

Her tears were freely flowing and her heart was breaking apart. What in the name just happened to her? Was she cursed not to love?

So this Christmas again, she would stay like always and spend it like always.

"Life you are not so fair. Did I ever do something to you? Was it my fault that I have to love to a fault? How do you choose to make me so lonely? Why today, why today"

She lamented and wailed on the cold tiles.

Suddenly, life has lost its meaning and love lost all its sparks.

She wiped her tears and stood up and went over to her dressing table. She picked a picture frame of Luke and caressed it. She smiled in bitterness and laughed in her sorrow.

Alex stared at the photo and with every venom in her blood she crashed the photo frame against the wall and the glass shattered, Luke's pics came flying to her, and settled on her feet.

She smiled and picked it up.

"So you decided to take my heart and shatter it, huh Mr. Luke?"

She said and began squeezing the photo, the more she squeezed the photo the more she cried. It was of no use, torturing a mere photo will not ease her pain. She can't just channel her anger at the poor photo.

Alex let off the photo and slumped on the floor without minding that glass was scattered all over. The pain in her heart was greater than any pain she was going to feel and that's why she did not know that a piece of glass went into her pinkie finger and caused her to bleed.

Her brain registered the pain but her body refused to react.

She saw her pink finger bleeding and ignored it.

By now a trace of tears was seen on her face. She has been crying for so long, crying for love that would no longer exist. Her love life is over and it's time to gather herself.

Alex stood up and went into the bathroom.

Her love life being over does not mean her life is over. The best for her was to see the brighter part of it. Like Luke has said, maybe one day she would thank him for breaking up with her.

**********

For the better part of the evening, there was a red-tinted sports car parked by the end of the roadside with the occupant of the car so bored to Earth.

He can't tell what's the fuss about Christmas. What's so special about the damned Christmas?.

He literally would ban Christmas if he has the power.

Humans are so foolish to the extent of overdoing things. Have they not heard that too much of everything is bad, it's time to stop this madness and face reality.

If they are remembering the birth of Christ as they say. It should be once in a while. Christ can't be born over and over again.

He hissed and turned on his radio and damnit, he can't escape it. Christmas is here and it's what it's

He can't deny that the Evening is cozy and everywhere was hot and the Christmas Carol could be heard from a distant church.

Putting on his radio was a means to distract him but the radio was not far from the celebration as well.

Josh turned off his radio and sighed.

This one week is going to be one hell of an experience for him.

He knows he would not have returned home if not that the old man had summoned him.

He hates Christmas so does everyone from his family but this year's Christmas is different and he can swear his grandfather didn't need to invite him home.

"If only you had allowed me to stay back in the state, I would not be here staring at nothing. You know so well that there is a lot to do but you insisted on having me home. Now that I am home, I hope my presence gives you longevity"

He muttered.

His granddad is not here to hear him and even if he is, he would not care.

"I beg you please, just come and go, don't even spend extra because I am going to kill you. You don't know how sick you make me feel each time I think about you"

He said, referring to no one but it was obvious he was referring to Christmas. He chuckled at himself and shook his head.

Josh Bleak knows he is silly sometimes.
