39 A Chat With Uncle Abel

After the meeting in the lounge, I decided to take a walk with my uncle. It was vital for him to understand that I did not intend to overthrow the council. There were laws against it, and I doubted if I wanted to be on the wrong side of the law. It was annoying that the council did not want to help with the attacks and Petra's cult, but I did not want to work against them.

"You have a good thing going on for you here, Jasper," he said, calling me Jasper for the first time. I guess he caught on that the people closest to me referred to me as Jasper and not Nikolas, as he had been saying.

"Navel was proud of you. I heard you held your wolf form for two months. That is unheard of. The max I have heard is a month." He said, and I laughed.

"My son Garnet held form for six weeks, and it would have been longer if it was because of his twin," I said, and he looked at me, surprised.

"You mean Ruby birthed strong pubs?" he asked, and I laughed.
