I could not believe that we had finally left. When Ruby had brought it up, I thought it was a spur of the moment thing, but I later figured she was serious. I had never thought of living in the human town before until I met Ruby, and everything changed. I wanted the best for her. I knew her father and pack members were disappointed in her, and I wanted to make it alright. I wanted to prove to her that she did not lose by ending up with me, and I tried my best, but suddenly things went out of control. I would have given an Alpha challenge to quiet the noise, but Ruby would not have it. I put myself in her shoes, and I knew exactly how she felt. I had fallen in love with her so deeply that she had become air to me, my source of living, the reason I pressed on. I did not want her to be mad at me, nor did I want her to be afraid for my life, so I made that promise and kept it.
