Chapter 42: Disappointed

Riccardo POV:

What did she mean by saying that I didn't know anything that happened to her after we broke up before? I literally kept my eyes on her for seven years, sending my men to watch over her in secret. I followed every social media post she made online and even checked on her if she went silent for three days. Certainly, after the breakup, she went a bit astray and befriended some toxic friends and developed toxic habits like going clubbing, dating random men and going on vacations with her peers. But none of it seemed to jeopardize her life and her education in college. She looked fine on the outside. But did something happen to her that I failed to see through during those years?

"I kind of lost direction after the breakup... like for a whole semester. My grades went down and I lost my scholarship," Cassie said slowly.

Okay, that was new. I never knew that. Maybe something did happen to her and I could sense it was like some kind of hardship she needed to deal with her famil
