I didn’t stop walking until I got to our room and closed the door behind me. Only then did I find some peace. It was as if being near that man drained me. Everything inside of me hated him.

“He is evil.”

My wolf whispered. She knew too. She felt it too but somehow, Bernardo was blinded to the obvious. I don’t know how his uncle could fool him so well but not me. It would never be me.

“What fuck was that, Harlyn?”

Bernardo asked angrily when he walked into our room. I didn’t even realize that he had followed behind me.

“What do you mean? Why are you yelling at me?”

I responded.

“You damn well know what I mean, why would you act like that towards my uncle? He’s already walking on eggshells around me because of what that bastard did and now you made it worse.”
