Lily had been waiting by William’s bedroom door, and knocked a couple of times. She didn’t expect that he would be in the children’s bedroom of all places. It was enough reason to raise brows at his behavior.

“What are you doing here, Lily?” The Alpha asked her without even so much as a friendly greeting or show of affection. A far cry from the first times they met and there was, if not love, at least a kind of desire between them. Now all William seemed to her was indifferent. And it irked her a lot. No man had ever done that to her before.

“Were you with the children? You seem to care a lot about them,” she remarked, looking a little bit peeves and suspicion coloring her voice.

“Does that matter?” He asked daringly, challenging her to say whatever it was in her mind.

Lily wasn’t so stupid as to start a fight she would lose.

“Not at all. Just seems a little curious, that’s all,” she easily replied. “And as to what I’m doing here… Have you forgotten we are engaged to be married? Or di
