The force from the first strike of the man's attack was enough to push Vaughan backwards. He managed to grip his heels into the dirt but even that was only enough to steady himself for a short moment. He was thankful that he had brought along the Immortal Wanderer's two-handed claymore with him. A strike from that axe would have probably broken most other weapons, especially with the force the other man put behind his strikes.
