Her fears
Approximately two weeks after their wedding, Steve came out of the bedroom down and confused. “Az, what’s this?” he asked, showing her a small white packet.
Aziza’s mouth opened and closed, no words coming out. She had forgotten to hide the packet from him.
“Az?” he called her name with questioning eyes, his heart already sinking. He was starting to wonder if he completely misunderstood her.
Aziza sighed “It’s birth control pills” she responded softly avoiding eye contact.
“I can see that. I am just confused, Az. I thought we both wanted kids” he said softly.
“We ..do” Aziza hesitated.

Christmas eve marked Four days of Aziza in the intensive care unit. She had not improved but had not deteriorated either. Steve remained by his wife’s side more hopeful than before that Aziza will pull through. Speaking to a lot of people restored his hopes.
