Chapter five

After the meeting ended, they all got up and left the hall to their various offices. Mason remained in his seat till everyone had left.

He stared at Kylie until she was out of sight. He couldn't believe his eyes when he saw her.

He could hear some employees mumbling about his looks as they exited but he was more focused on the pronounced frown on Kylie's face.

A woman around her age came up to her and they hugged each other. He could tell they were friends from the way they linked arms and walked out.

He found that funny. He thought girls stopped doing that after high school. He scoffed.

He looked down at his desk and packed his file, put them in his bag, and walked out. He needed a secretary asap to do this for him.

He walked to the elevator and waited a few seconds before the door opened. His mind kept on wandering back to Kylie. The way she was shocked when she saw him. She must not have known he was the new boss.

He walked into his new office. The place felt very odd. Mr. Simpson was a very boring person when it came to fashion taste and if his dressing didn't make it obvious enough then this office did. The designs here were so out-of-date. He has a lot of changes to make and they will definitely have to start from this gaddamn office.

He set his bag on the desk, brought out his documents, and placed them on the table. He was about to sit down and get to work when there was a knock on the door.

"Come in," he said.

He did not know who was expecting to see walk in but it definitely wasn't Kylie.

"Good morning sir." She greeted softly, her voice a big difference from the one she used to moan his name last night.

"Take a seat. How may I help you?" He asked her and watched her sashay towards the seat opposite him.

The tight-fitting gown she wore today made her look sexy as hell. He could still feel her flesh against his as she rode him last night. His favorite dress of hers was none at all.

He focused back on her, wondering what she had to say. He made it pretty obvious that they weren't supposed to talk about that night again. Okay, so he made it clear that they weren't supposed to contact each other again but that was impossible as she worked for him now.

It was after she took her seat, adjusted her gown, and looked him dead in the eyes, that she decided to speak.

"I came to return something you left behind the other day." That got Mason frowning. He was sure he left nothing behind.

Or was it what he was thinking? Was she pregnant? Women have a lot of ways to say things sometimes. He has seen, on two occasions now, women say that to Richie when they got pregnant. Perhaps referring to the sperm he left behind.

He stared at her in horror. He hoped that wasn't the case. His worry rose as she searched her bag, brought out an envelope, and dropped it on his desk. He glared at it like it was a bomb.

"You know it's not going to bite right?" She asked him. He looked up at her and gave her a once-over. She looked the same as yesterday. What were the signs that someone was pregnant? He tried to get a look at her belly but her bag was blocking the little view he got.

Lord knows he didn't need a baby nor the problems that came along with it. What was he going to do? His reputation would be ruined, the name he worked hard for.

"Let's cut the drama short. Are you pregnant?" He asked her.

Kylie took her time to laugh at him. And that only made him pissed.

"For someone who owns companies, you sure are dumb." She said after she calmed down only to start laughing again.

"You really think I'd know that the very next day? Ask me in the next two weeks and I'll give you a response."

He glared at her. He didn't take kindly to insults.

"So what's this?"

"Open it and see. I helped you package it nicely."

He stared at the envelope cautiously but still went ahead and picked it up.

When he opened it, he saw his letter and the money.

"Just the way you left it, only delivered respectfully." She repeated.

"This is your compensation. Why are you returning it?" He asked her.

"What do you think I am, a slut? I don't need your money. I can make my own."

"How? You aren't even sure that you are going to get the job." He smirked at her.

He wasn't expecting the sinister smile that crawled into her face.

"Oh really? Bet you wouldn't want your name all over the place for having an illegitimate child, right?"

He suddenly felt hot even though the air conditioner was on. He tugged at his tie hoping to loosen some tension and rigidity from his body. Even though he had no control over what he did last night, he knew he would never have unprotected sex.

"I used protection. You aren't even pregnant." He glared at her.

"We don't know that yet. Best if I just stay around till we finally figure it out,  don't you think?" She smirked as she rested her arms on his desk and leaned forward.

She had him there and they both knew it.

"Whatever. I need to work." He mumbled as he turned his attention back to the files on his desk.

She chuckled as she got up and left.

Mason hated women sometimes. They always wanted to have their way. And they did that cunningly.

As soon as it was finalized that she wasn't bearing his baby, she would be out of his company and life for good.
