Fred and I were in the middle of nowhere, searching for clues to find Sophia. We had less than ten hours to rescue Iris.

I couldn't imagine touching Sophia, not even before I discovered she was evil, and especially not now. I couldn't believe she was so desperate to have me.

The clues were there, but I never gave them much thought, and now it was too late.

What she was doing was extremely distasteful, and I felt a wave of revulsion, wondering when all this trouble would be over.

My gaze was fixed on the horizon, with Fred standing beside me. We were beginning to lose hope, having combed everywhere, and suspected that Sophia had taken Iris to another pack.

I didn't want to give Sophia the satisfaction of getting what she was asking for - that would only encourage her evil behavior. If I gave in and slept with her, Iris would never look at me the same way again.
