I slept in fits and starts last night. After returning back to the packhouse with Harley, the doctors were able to get her stable. The doctor was able to set both her leg and her shoulder. Her leg was placed in a cast and her arm was secured against her body to keep her shoulder in place. The doctor had administered a medication that was supposed to help with the suppression of her wolf, but after no significant changes were noted, I forced myself to bed. Yesterday was a long and exhausting day, and I was hoping that a good night’s rest would bring better news in the morning.
As I stumbled out of bed, I stopped when I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. I looked rough. Dark circles ringed my eyes, the telltale sign that I didn’t get enough sleep. Although I didn’t make it to bed until 2:30 this morning, and it was only 6:45, that was typically more than enough sleep for me to be rested. Except sleep eluded me, and I probably slept no more than an hour
HarleyA soft bed cradling me was the first thing that I felt as I began to wake up. The last thing that I remembered was the cold rain and excruciating pain. My shoulder and leg had been severely injured and as I laid on the ground, the hopelessness of the situation crept in and I cried. I knew that I was someplace that no one would stumble upon me and that I was going to die. I had not cried since my mom died, but I could not stop the tears. I cried mostly for my sister, knowing that I would not be able to protect her. I cried because I didn’t know where she was, and I didn’t know if she was safe. I cried because I would never get to see her again. As I slowly started to regain consciousness, I realized that I was not dead. The bed surrounding me and the sensation of medical equipment attached to me told me that I was no longer outside. I froze for a moment, fearful that I was back at the Crimson River Pack and that I had not been successfu
Alpha AndersI sat down at my desk, raking my hands down my face.‘I like her. We should date her.’ Grey spoke, the first substantial conversation we had since we found Harley.‘Really? That is what you start with? She is injured and looking for her sister and the first thing you tell me is that we should date her?’ I didn’t understand my wolf most of the time.‘Yep. That is what I started with because I like her. You should like her as well. She is great.’ Grey spoke, matter of factly. What the hell was up with my wolf?‘I do like her. Probably more than I should for just meeting her.’ I mumbled, leaning my elbows forward on my knees.I stood, looking out the window and over the training field. My sister, Romy, was leading a small group of young she-wolves in training. I could tell by the movements that they were practicing defensive action. Many people d
Harley“Tell me about your sister.” Talia was nearly jumping up and down. After she came in and made sure that I was okay and feeling better, she moved on to talking about Coral and the time that we spent over the last year trying to make our way to the compound. Talia’s hair was a bright red. While Cora’s hair was a deep red, Talia’s hair was a bright shade of red that she kept long, nearly reaching her lower back. It was left down, nearly wild but somehow controlled at the same time. It reminded me of the red wolf itself.
Alpha Anders growled and Neil rolled his eyes. I knew that I was missing something, judging by the look exchanged between the Alpha and the Beta. “Enter.” Alpha Anders stated, curtly. A very busty she-wolf entered. She looked at me briefly before turning to the Alpha.“Alpha Anders? I was hoping that, if you had time, we could talk? I would like to apologize for my behavior yesterday.” The she-wolf was wearing too much makeup and too much perfume. Her dress was a bit short and tight. And I didn’t like her in the Alpha’s office. I
Alpha AndersTime went by too slowly. Grey wouldn’t stop talking about having dinner with Harley. Admittedly, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It was funny, because on the surface, Harley wasn’t like any of the she-wolves I had dated or the ones that I was typically attracted to. And when I say on the surface, that was exactly what I meant. Probably stereotypical of me, but I had typically been attracted to tall, busty blondes. Harley was tall, but that was where it ended. She had long, black hair, similar to my own. Her eyes were the brightest blue, and I could only imagine that they would get even brighter as she actually started eating and being able to take care of herself. It seemed like her time as an omega at the Crimson River Pack was not good and she was not able to care for herself like she should have.I could tell just from looking at Harley that she was muscular, despite it being diminished due to the lack of regular exer
Harley The Alpha gently ran his thumb across the knuckles. “Please, Harley, call me Anders.” Anders spoke quietly.“Anders, are you my mate?” I nervously asked, the pressure in my head becoming nearly overwhelming. I had to know if Anders knew something that I did not. Thoughts of having a mate ran through my head. Was Anders my mate? What if he wasn’t my mate? Over the last year, I found myself thinking about a mate and what it would be like to have one, mostly because I had the time to think about it. It wasn’t until I was being held as an omega that I had a moment to pause and think. I spent most of the time worrying about Coral, but in other moments, I thought about my mate. I would have never thought that my mate could be an Alpha, but now it seemed possible.Anders took my hand, kissing the top of it gently. “Honestly, I am not sure. I would think that Grey would know, but my wolf does not know. I f
AndersI sat in awe, watching Harley kicked Caroline out of the office. While I wasn’t directly impacted by Harley’s command, I couldn’t ignore the fact that her command held strength. It wasn’t an Alpha command, but it definitely had some power to it. I looked up at my Beta, who could clearly feel the force behind the command. Brett was also in the room, as was Mark, and I could see that all of them could feel the tone in Harley’s voice.Brett, who had been sitting across from me, stood and moved towards the office door, opening it as Caroline left the office. No one said a word as Caroline left. Brett took his seat back across from me.I looked up at Harley. She shrugged and smiled at me before moving and sitting in the chair next to Brett. For as much as I wanted to say something to Harley about what just happened, it didn’t seem like it was needed.“Harley, why don’t you begin by telling us wher
HarleyI sat at the kitchen table, my mind racing. Romy had left to go meet Sarah and bring her to the packhouse. I could not stop the thoughts that were running circles in my mind. The idea of having my wolf back after a year left me reeling. What was she going to say once she came back? Did she know if Anders was my mate? How long was it going to take for her to come back once I took the elixir? The questions were spinning for so long in my head that I didn’t notice Anders walk in.“Are you okay?” He asked, breaking me from my thoughts. I looked up at him, startled by his presence.“Yes, I am okay. Just excited about finally getting my wolf back.” I looked up at Anders, smiling. This man was the epitome of a gorgeous Alpha. The idea of having him want me was something that I could not fully comprehend. How could someone like him want to be with someone like me? He could have any she-wolf that he w
