Rosalind

Axel effortlessly helped me out of the deep hole. He didn’t even break a sweat when he lifted me up. Once I was back on the ground, I stumbled a little bit, so Axel held onto the small of my bag to stabilize me.

We paused for a while, just looking into each other’s eyes. I thought that his eyes were just a plain shade of brown, but looking into them, they were like pools of honey in the sunlight.

Our moment was interrupted when Venice cleared her throat and got in between the two of us.

“What are you doing here, Rosalind?” she asked, crossing her arms in front of my chest. “You even have to fall into one of our traps like a fool.”

I cleared my throat to suppress the embarrassment that I was feeling. I mimicked her stance and crossed my arms in front of my chest. “Can’t I stroll around the palace during our leisure time?”

She scoffed. “I doubt that you’re just strollin
