Rosalind
I woke up feeling much better than before. I reached up to my forehead to feel my temperature and was surprised to find out that the towel was still cold. Axel must have kept replacing it any chance that he got.
I opened my eyes and smiled when I saw Axel's face near mine. I tilted my head to the side as I observed his handsome features.
"This really isn't fair," I whispered. "How could you be so handsome?"
He stirred in his sleep, so I quickly yet quietly moved away from him. I watched with wide eyes as Axel groaned and moved around.
I let out a sigh of relief when he finally calmed down and went back to sleep.
Since I wanted him to rest more, I quietly got up from my bed and tiptoed out of the room. I was also starving and thirsty from not being able to drink or eat all day, so I decided to go to the kitchen. I just hoped to the Moon Goddess that no one was there.
When I got to the kitchen, I w
RosalindI scoffed, trying to play off the nervousness in my heart."What are you saying? Me? Liking Axel? I told you that this was about my friend."She gave me an incredulous look. "Sis, no offense, but you don't have any friends.""I do!" I argued, still keeping up with my little white lie.She sighed and massaged her temples. "Okay, let's just say that I believe you."I pouted because it really felt as if she didn't believe me."You're only going to find the answer to your question if you ask.""But what if he doesn't like me?" I asked, caving in.She sighed. "Have you even told him that you like him yet?"I looked down at the table and shook my head. She slapped her hands on her thighs. "See! You haven't even told him! He must be confused as hell too."I threw my head back in frustration. "I'm scared, okay? I've never felt this way before, and it just sucks that I feel like he
Rosalind"Why are you wearing that?" I asked, my voice breaking in the end.He looked down at his outfit. "What? This? These are my favorite pajamas," he justified.I nodded my head. "Yeah, I know. You just wore them yesterday night. Did you wear them again today?""Oh, this? I like this so much that I have multiple pairs."My mouth went agape. That never crossed my mind."Why? Did it seem like I took it from the laundry basket to wear it again?"I did not say anything in response since I was still shocked that all the three signs that I've laid out were fulfilled in just one night. It hasn't even reached 10:00 PM!"Earth to Rosalind," he said, snapping his fingers in front of my face.I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't even realize that he was once again sitting next to me.I cleared my throat and moved farther from him."You okay?" he asked.I vigor
RosalindWe were now on our way to Agartha—the place where Luna Aerin currently is. We were already nearing the vicinity, and there were no trains that passed through this area, so we just ended up walking. We were surrounded by tall trees, itchy grass, and different types of exotic flowers.I groaned as I once again scratched my leg, which seemed to be a favorite target for the mosquitoes around here."Why are you even wearing a dress in the first place?" Sebastian asked, laughing as he watched me scratch my legs for the nth time of the day.I glared at him. "Well, you didn't tell me that we were going to be walking!"He raised his hands up in surrender. "Hey, I disclosed to you the plan yesterday night in your room. It's not my fault that you were not paying attention."I grumbled under my breath and trudged behind them, still feeling grumpy from all the mosquito bites on my legs.We had be
Rosalind"Oh god, this is rich," Sebastian continued, guffawing.I tapped his shoulder. "What did you say? Hey, repeat what you just said?" I said, almost shaking him. After saying his last statement, he started laughing so much that I couldn't decipher whether he was joking or not."Luna Aerin...is Axel's mother?" I asked. I tried to make my voice neutral, but it came out a little bit hopeful and expectant. He wiped the sides of his mouth before replying. "Yes! Why the hell would you think she's his girlfriend?"I looked away from him. "Just cause—he told me that she was someone very important in her life.""Duh! She's his mom.""Yeah, well, I didn't know that back then," I said in exasperation.I tried so hard to hold back my happiness, but I felt my lips forming into a smile as I internalized the new information. So, Luna Aerin isn't Axel's girlfriend but his mom."You must l
Axel"Long time, no see...brother," a deep and familiar voice said.As the cloud of dust cleared out, there appeared Logan with a smug smirk on his face.I was pissed beyond imagination with the look on his face, but I didn't let it show and mirrored his smirk instead. I need to show him that I'm not fazed by his cockiness."I don't think you have the right to call me that anymore...brother."He looked me up and down. "You look good, brother. I was actually thinking that you've become skin and bones, but I guess someone's been taking care of you well," he said, turning his eyes towards Rosalind.I held Rosalind's hand and hid her behind my back, shielding her away from Logan."Oh," Logan said, his voice showing recognition. "Well, if it isn't Princess Rosalind of the Faerie Kingdom? Fancy seeing you here," he said, trying to kiss her hand.I hid her even more behind my back.He w
AxelI was in a dilemma.I looked back and forth at the bloody Logan on the ground and at my mom, who had a knife near her neck."Fuck this," I muttered under my breath and let go of Logan to go to my mom.I saw Sebastian walking towards my mom as well, so I gestured for him to go behind the burly man who was holding my mother. With one look, Sebastian elbowed the burly man's head, causing him to pass out on the ground. At the same time, I caught my mom in my arms and removed the ropes tied around her arms."Are you okay?" I asked softly, removing the ropes as carefully as possible. She already had so many cuts on wounds on her body, and I didn't want to add to them anymore."Axel," she said softly, and a surge of happiness entered my heart. I didn't know just how much I missed the sound of my mom's voice until I heard it.My eyes widened in realization when I remembered that I had left
RosalindI felt like I was being poured with a cold bucket of water. I swiftly turned around when Luna Aerin said my mother's name.We mirrored each other's wide eyes, both speechless."How—how do you know my mother's name?" I asked after a long period of silence.I saw her eyes tearing up and became even more confused. Does she know my mom?"She's your mother?"I slowly nodded my head.I don't know what happened, but the next thing I know, she had already hugged me in her arms."Oh god," she muttered under her breath as she tenderly caressed my hair.A tear fell from my eyes as I reciprocated her hug—the warmth that I felt in her arms resembling the warmth that emanated from my mother.Axel groaned in his sleep, causing both of us to look at him.She broke away from the hug. "Do you want to talk about this tomorrow? I promise to tell you everythin
Rosalind"I—I don't know what you're talking about," I said, avoiding her eyes. She chuckled and placed her hands on my shoulder, forcing me to face her. "Come on, Rosalind. I'm not blind. I could see the way that you look at my son."I looked down on my lap. "I naturally have eyes that look like this," I feigned innocence. She ruffled my hair. "There's no use hiding this from me. I've seen this look many times on your mom, and now I'm seeing it on you. Oh, how fast time flies."I let out a deep sigh and bit my lip. "Is it that obvious?"She laughed. "Yeah. I'm surprised that Axel hasn't noticed. Or maybe he has noticed."My eyes widened as I looked at her. "Has he?""No, I highly doubt it," she said, making me sigh out in relief. "If there's one thing that Axel and his father have in common is that they are both dense. Do you know how long I've been dropping him hints that I like him just for him to treat me
