I nodded my head. “Vaguely. You told me that you were hired for this.”

“Well, that’s true. But aside from that, I wasn’t left with a choice. This is something that I had to do.”

I frowned. “What do you mean?”

He leaned his elbows against his lap and let out a deep breath. “My father—,” he started off, his voice breaking with the utterance of his close relative.

I placed my hand on his lap. “We don’t have to take it that far.”

He shook his head. “No, I promise you that I’ll be completely honest. I’ll tell you everything...everything from the start. There might just be some moments where I would find it difficult to talk.”

I patted his lap. “Then feel free to stop whenever you want to. Take your time, Cupid. I’ll just be right here.”
