Azriel: Clearing the Misunderstanding

The look of sadness and hurt in Aysel’s eyes gnaw at my heart. I watch her leave the infirmary while I can do nothing but follow the nurse who wants me to take Sarah back. Liam is on duty or else I would have asked him to do this instead of accompanying her myself.

“What happened to that man?” I ask the nurse before going to meet Sarah.

“Ah, I think he got poisoned by nightshade or so beta Aysel informed.” I nod jerkily before thanking her and going to meet Sarah.

She bowed her head in greeting.

“How are you feeling?” I ask, flickering my gaze at her bandaged ankle.

“Better. Thank you,” she murmurs, giving me a small smile.

“The nurse said you are fit to go back. Think you can manage that?” I ask. She darts her gaze away, almost looking uncomfortable.

“Fine, I will call Liam then and ask him to escort you back,” I murmur as I fish out my phone and hurriedly shoot a text to her brother.

“But, he—”

“He will be here in half an hour,” I inform her as Liam sends me a reply immediately.
