Almost died.

Rose’s POV

Oh no.

This time, I didn’t hesitate to run.

My lungs pounded against me, aching all the more as I took in the cold air. My panting was loud and I ran as quickly as I could, exerting all my muscles and energy.

Before I could think, I opened my mouth and let out a large scream for help.

“Somebody help!”

My breaths grew harsher the faster I tried to run. I was still nowhere nearing the mansion.

In my anger, I had underestimated the distance I had rushed through. Now I was paying severely for it.

The food in my belly, no matter how little it was, churned inside me. Fighting the nausea the feeling gave, I did my best to run faster.

Swallowing saliva in my drying mouth, I gave one more scream.

“Rael!”

As one of my legs shifted backwards, I felt the warm breath shift against my ankle, raising more panic and fear in me. I knew instinctively that its teeth had caught the feet of my clothes. Still I pulled hard, trying to run as normal. I ignored the ripping of fabric that came aft
