“What do you mean the man paralyzed you?” Ezra asked, tending to the wound that I had on my right arm. It was one that Cosimo inflicted when he had me paralyzed, a small reminder, according to him, of what he could do when he wanted; and I couldn’t even fight against it.

I looked at Lea who was lost in her thoughts, and though I wished to tell her that the man was not going to stop, not here, and not now; I knew that this was not the time to do so. The idea of me hiding the fact that he was the reason behind her father’s death ate me alive, especially when I knew how much it cost her.
