(Kaeleigh’s POV)
I was released from the hospital the next day, with an almost healed leg, but strict orders to rest it for another month before starting back up with training. I was ready to go when Jensen walked into the room.
“Hey princess,” he said grinning at me. I looked expectedly behind him.
“Where’s Chase?” I asked. I was kinda expecting him to be the one to pick me up.
“Sorry Kae,” he said. “He’s in a meeting with the Alpha right now. There’s been some concern that they are trying to sort out.” he picked up my bag with a guarded look on his face. “but don’t worry, princess, I’ll take good care of you.” He wriggled his eyebrows, and I laughed.

(Jensen’s POV)“Chase” I glanced at my dad before returning my sight to my friend. The look on his face was raw. It was twisted between pain and fury and even some fear in there. If I could just get to him, then maybe I could calm him down, but I was ready to protect Kaeleigh if it was required. I moved forward to get in front of Kaeleigh. I didn’t know what was wrong with him, but I wasn’t risking it.Then the air shifted and Chase growled at me. I could tell by the way Kaeleigh dropped to the floor and the way she bowed her head in submission that she was devastated and I did everything I could to hold back a growl.
