(Kaeleigh’s POV)
I was released from the hospital the next day, with an almost healed leg, but strict orders to rest it for another month before starting back up with training. I was ready to go when Jensen walked into the room.
“Hey princess,” he said grinning at me. I looked expectedly behind him.
“Where’s Chase?” I asked. I was kinda expecting him to be the one to pick me up.
“Sorry Kae,” he said. “He’s in a meeting with the Alpha right now. There’s been some concern that they are trying to sort out.” he picked up my bag with a guarded look on his face. “but don’t worry, princess, I’ll take good care of you.” He wriggled his eyebrows, and I laughed.
<(Kaeleigh’s POV)“Who else?” I demanded and Chase sighed..“We don’t know baby,” he answered, “but since we pulled the confirmed families in, we have had almost a hundred pack members leave the territory and denounce the pack.”“A hundred!” I exclaimed. The Beta then turned round and punched the wall, and roared. I jumped, and Chase stood up in front of me. Everyone was on edge and the tension was rising. The Beta rubbed his temple and bent down on the balls of his feet. I had never seen him look so stressed before. I put my hand in Chases. And he relaxed and sat back down.“So for now we need to lockdown,” the Alpha said. “Those o
(Jensen’s POV)“Chase” I glanced at my dad before returning my sight to my friend. The look on his face was raw. It was twisted between pain and fury and even some fear in there. If I could just get to him, then maybe I could calm him down, but I was ready to protect Kaeleigh if it was required. I moved forward to get in front of Kaeleigh. I didn’t know what was wrong with him, but I wasn’t risking it.Then the air shifted and Chase growled at me. I could tell by the way Kaeleigh dropped to the floor and the way she bowed her head in submission that she was devastated and I did everything I could to hold back a growl. Then Chase let out a roar, and I watched in shock as he picked up his father’s desk and threw it across the room. It smashed into the wall in pieces just as Chase stormed out of the room.
(Kaeleigh’s POV)I can’t be here!I just couldn’t be near him, not now! I didn’t know how long I had been crying, not long I knew that, but too long. I sat up from my pathetic self-pity party and saw that everyone was looking at me.“I can’t stay here,” I said, storming up the stairs and onto the top floor, almost bumping straight into the Luna. “I need to go.”“Kaeleigh dear what do you mean?” the Luna started to follow me as I hurried to my room.“If he can’t find me, then he can’t reject me,” I reasoned. A mate bond rejection has to be done face to face and has to be accepted by the rejected for the bond to actually be bro
(Kaeleigh’s POV)I ended up crying myself to sleep. I didn’t know how long it took, but at some point I passed out exhausted from the tears. I had nightmares of Chase chasing me down to throw me away or to kill me.When I woke up the next morning, I was a mess of tangled sheets and sweat. Kierra brought us breakfast from the dining room, so I didn’t have to see anyone. She told me that the Alpha had commanded her to tell him who she was loyal to in the hallway yesterday, and that Ivy had filled her in on why while I was asleep and that she had a meeting with the Alpha and Beta at the detention center this morning.“I don’t believe it,” she said. “Meagan is not a spy,” she was so confident in her conviction. Ivy nodded her agreement, and I agreed, as well. I might not h
(Jensen’s POV)Being trapped in a car with a love sick werewolf who is worried about his mate for over twelve hours was not my idea of fun at all. Chase switched between sitting in tense, brooding silence to angry ranting and back again.“I thought we were going to Cornwall,” Chase snapped at me. I gave him a sideways glance.“We are,” I replied.“Then you are going in the wrong fucking direction,”“Buddy, trust me on this. I know what I am doing.” he was right though. We were heading away from our final destination but it was necessary.Beaumont Academy was one of the most coveted and prestigious magic
(Jensen’s POV)Four hours later, and I was laid in bed with a beautiful naked redhead which moulded against me.“So what is she like?” Isabella asks while she traces shapes with her fingers on my chest.“Who?” I asked, I ran my hand up and down her back slowly, there was a certain spot on the base of her spine where she was extra sensitive and she would shiver when I passed over it, and it made me chuckle to myself.“Kaeleigh,” she said looking at me, “what is she like?” I couldn’t help but smile.“She is fiery and passionate, and she is so much stronger than she gives herself credit for. She feels so fully, whether it’s her own pain or that of othe
(Chase’s POV)My head felt like I had gone ten rounds with an angry elephant, and he had won. I was so exhausted after that spell and was doing what I could to keep awake.“Is there a difference between witches and sorcerers?” I asked, “like don’t they all just do magic and shit?” Isabella looked at me like I would look at a child who said something cute.“Yeah, they both do magic, but the magic is different. It comes from a different place,” she explained. “A witch’s magic comes from the base five elements: earth, air, fire, water and spirit and we normally have an affinity for just one of those. Like for me, I work well with fire,” and she held her left hand up and a small fireball appeared, “But a sorcerer’s magic, that work
(Chase’s POV)“Come on Ivy, just pass her the phone,” I pleaded. We were back in the kitchen and Isabella was pulling out different ancient looking books and frantically searching through them. Jensen seemed lost in thought, so I took the time to try to get through to Kaeleigh again. Her phone was still not connecting, so I phoned my sister.“I told you Chase,” Ivy said “She won’t come to the phone,” and then she whispered, “She is adamant that you are going to reject her. I don’t know what to do.”“I’m not going to reject her, I never would,” I couldn’t even imagine life without Kaeleigh, “Please tell her I love her,” and we ended the call.I was eager to ge
