Drake POV
“Absolutely not Kate! We don’t even know who we are dealing with and what resources he has at his fingertips! You cannot offer yourself to him. He wants to mark and mate you, Kate. This isn’t a game!” I yell through the phone. Pausing I hear Elise make a sound of disgust as she gets out of bed and pulls her clothes back on. As she leaves the room, she gives me the finger – I smile and blow her a kiss as she slams the door.
“Kate, listen to me. Don’t make any decisions until we meet tomorrow. I’ll reach out to my contact and see if I can find anything that will give us an idea who this guy is but please don’t do anything before I get there,” I ask. I admit I am feeling a bit anxious at the thought of her offering

Kate POV We have been discussing the various options for the next rogue attack; however, we have agreed to nothing yet. The Betas, Gamma, and Drake are completely against me trying to reason with the Alpha rogue at the border. We presume he is close when the attacks take place, which would make it an ideal time for us to try to garner peace. Taking a sip of what seems like my hundredth cup of coffee, I wait for a break in the yelling. Yes yelling, each male sitting at the table is trying to offer reasons to me as to why this will not work. I understand the risk but cannot see another viable option. Looking around the table, I look to my father, he hasn’t weighed in on any of the conversation and I’m curious what he is
Kate POV Drake texts me he is ready and in the main lobby waiting for me. For some reason Lily has me pondering, is this a date? No, it can’t be a date. It’s just two people going out for a couple drinks. Definitely not a date. Ugh so why am I struggling to decide what to wear?!? Moving to my closet, I decide on my skinny jeans, cream colored tank, and cream-colored leather jacket. I touch up my mascara and lip gloss and I am good to go. Moving out of my suite, I head to the lobby. As I see Drake, he was just hanging up on a call and looks me up and down. He leans in to softly say in my ear, “You look stunning,” and puts his hand on the lower part of my back, leading me out to the vehicles. Asking if he wants to ride with me in my Jeep, he holds out his h
Kate POV Drake had reached over and held my hand as we drove back to the Pack house. I was excited and nervous at the same time, but knew I wanted it. As we arrived, we got out of the car, holding hands as we walked into the Pack house. Nobody was around, which was a relief. We headed right to my room. As soon as the door was shut, we tossed our jackets off and then Drake picked me up, me wrapping my legs around his waist as he held me against the door just staring into my eyes. A hot fire was growing between us. I could feel his hard cock against me and could feel myself getting wetter. Suddenly it was like we couldn’t keep our mouths from one another. Moving my head to Drake, I put my lips on his for a soft kiss,
Kate POV Waking up this morning alone was disappointing, but I appreciated Drake’s discretion. Stretching in bed, I had a delicious ache between my legs. Feeling myself go red, I smiled at what we had done last night. I had no regrets and was looking forward to when we could do it again. Looking at the clock, I cringe. It’s almost time for my meeting with my father. I am expected to give him my decision as to whether I will be the negotiator or not. He already knows my decision; I never turn back from a challenge, and this would definitely be a challenge. And I like to win. A win of this magnitude would solidify my role as Alpha for the Pack. Getting up and grabbing a quick shower, I pull on a pair of bootcut je
Kate POV As I left my father’s office, I was no further ahead. He had no insight into the names we had come up. He either doesn’t remember or doesn’t want to remember. I’ve no idea what the answer to that question is, but I am getting increasingly frustrated at his secrecy. Looking at the time, I realize it’s the end of the day and I’ve got plans with Lily for tonight. We are doing a girl’s night – movies, snacks and dishing about all that ails us … or doesn’t, I think laughing to myself. I still was undecided as to whether I would share anything about Drake yet. I’m not sure what we were, so didn’t want to share anything just yet. As I got changed into leggings and a tank top, I heard a knock at my door. Running o
Kate POV Groaning, I awaken to another punch to the abdomen, then another slap across the face. This is the fourth time I have been woken from pain induced exhaustion. I was trying to remember what had happened the night before. I knew there had been a rogue attack and I had been going out to negotiate with the Alpha Rogue but before I got there, someone attacked me from the side. Before I could even respond to the attack, I felt something sharp stab my neck and before I could mink-link to anyone I was in intense pain. I knew they had injected wolfsbane in my system, but I realized it must have had an accelerant because it wouldn’t usually be that debilitating so quickly. Now I found myself in silver hand cuffs attached to a wall in a
Drake POV (three days prior) Running into the Pack house and down to the conference room, I go through the open door to see the top warriors, Beta Gregory, Beta Reid, Gamma John, and my eyes finally landing on Alpha Jackson. Stomping over to him, I can see Beta Gregory starting to stand to try and get in front of Alpha Jackson. He doesn’t make it before I deliver a couple solid punches to Jackson’s face. Beta Gregory then grabs me from behind as Alpha Jackson makes a move to punch me; however, Reid is there stepping in between us and pushing Alpha Jackson back away from me. Taking my arm and pulling me over to sit by John and him, I pull my arm out of his hand and breathing heavily, walk over to take my chair. “What the hell did you do Jackson? What the hell happened to the plan?” I y
Kate POV They had left me alone for the night. No guards were torturing me or even came into the cell. What I assume would be the equivalent of an Omega, came in with some food, water, and cautiously unhooked me from the silver chains and handcuffed me to the bed that was in the room. I tried to engage with her, but she didn’t have much to say. Or was likely not permitted to say much. I asked her name, which she didn’t reply. I asked where we were, which she didn’t reply. The only thing I did get from her was that she was sorry she couldn’t help me. I was discouraged but had to come up with something to help myself. I was pushing Shelby to help with the healing but was hearing minimal fro
