Lucy It's Sunday afternoon when I knock on Mandy’s door. She answer the door all to quickly squealing she hugs me, the hug isn't right as her belly restricts her. “ The pup has really grown.” I comment looking at her belly. “ When are you due?” “ Three to four weeks. Come in.” I enter her home and it's as cosy as it was the last time I was here. It feel like such a long time has passes due to the many events that had happened over the past days. “ I can see that your voice is back!” She squeals once more. I laugh my lips turning up in a soft smile. “ Yeah…” my reply is short. My cheeks warm up when I remember exactly what transpired when my voice returned. “ I can see that you even look and smell different. This is huge, you are our Luna officially. Kayden has finally marked you!” Her eyes are wide as she stares at me. I groan, “ Well I guess it was time.” She rushes to give me another hug embracing once again. “ I am so happy for you!” Her smile lights up her beautiful face
Lucy Tell me where you are? I text back. I don't know why I felt compelled to ask that question and I more than anything want to see her answer. Hidden in the underground tunnel built at my old pack. I gotta go, some is coming. Just like that I can't text her anymore and if I text her I might put her in danger. But why the sudden change Lexi has always hated me but now she texts me like we have always been friends. “ So tell what that witch has said?” Megan demands immediately. I hand over my phone and she reads the texts. “ This bitch is the biggest lair, there are no tunnels at Darkmist.” “ But what if they are there but hidden?” She shakes her head dismissing the issue. “ Trust me there is nothing down there. I know Darkmist like the back of my hand there is nothing.” “ Which park was Lexi from originally? Has she always been a Darkmist member?” I choose to change my line of questioning. “ All I know is that she was part of Darkmist if there is any other pack then I woul
A date!” He frowns, “ Yes a date. Why are you surprised?” I roll my eyes and his eyes narrow with a warning, “ It's just you have never asked me on a date before.” “ That's why I am asking now. So will you go?” I glance at his chest, his heart beats wildly as he waits for my answer. He has me cocking my head and staring into his captivating eyes. Why would he be nervous when they are already marked and mated? “ Of course I will go.” He heaves out, a sigh of relief. An amused smile dances on my lips, “ did you think I would refuse?” “ Of course, because I am doing this after we are together. Instead of doing it before.” “ Who says there is an order to this?” “ The universe I guess.” is his cocky reply. I chuckle until my breath hitches when I feel his lips capturing me mine. He pulls away quickly. “ I needed to steal one at least.” His ears hit up again and I giggle at his reaction. This is a side of Kayden that I never got to experience and that I am, it's just the best
The band plays in front of us and we watch them play. I don't know what band it is but their music is captivating, it has all of us entertained. “ They are so good, what band is this?” I ask Kayden who is standing beside him. I look ahead listening to the blend of beautiful melodies. “I also don't know. I can't even remember the last time I attended this festival.” “ They are still beautiful, the lead singer is so hot.” Kayden growls right beside him. It's low but loud enough for me to hear it. I smile holding back a chuckle. “ What, you don't think he is hot?” He simply rolls his eyes. “ I know what you are playing at Lucy.” He simply says. This time I chuckle. “Jealousy much,” I comment. My lips turn up into a smirk. We both glance at each other. His look is murderous, making me chuckle once more. I take his hand in mine. “ You look cute when you are jealous.” He frowns, “Men ain't even cute. They are handsome. So I am cute while he gets to be the hot one. I am touched.”
The ride back to the pack house feels longer than the ride it took to get northern. Kayden is crushing through the street like a sports car driver and all I can do is hold onto the seat belt for my dear life. He is so lost in his mind that any word I utter passes his ears or maybe he is just ignoring me. That one phone call changed everything. Not only having us rush back home like maniacs but cutting our date short. “ Kayden! Please talk to me! Tell me what's wrong?” I plead my voice breaking. For some reason, my heart feels like it will run out of my chest. At this point, I can't tell if it is because of the pace at which the car is moving or something else. My heart feels heavy, so heavy it gives me goosebumps. Just like I expected Kayden greets my plea with silence. “ Kayden!!” I exclaim. He is startled for a minute and that seems to snap him out of the trance he is in. He finally glances in my direction. “ I can't tell you just yet but we need to get back to the pack fast. W
It's the form of a human with fur in certain spots of his skin. With eyes burning like the pit of hell. It growls out, the sound very animalistic and lethal. It has black substances dripping from it's mouth. And it's hands there is something familiar about it's hands. It lashes at one of the pack member and he doesn't get away in time. It's hands are around his neck squeezing hard. Kayden is quick to reach using his reflexes he grabs it and throws it far away from the attacked person. It lands crushing onto the ground and springs up in action like it didn't feel anything at all. “ Kelvin!” A woman calls out to it. She has tears in her eyes as she looks at it. “ Kelvin please snap out of it.” She cries as she tries to get closer to it but Kayden grabs her and pulls her away just into before she gets attacked. “ Are you crazy! That thing will hurt you.” “ That thing is my son!” She cries out. She cruches the floor and hugs her self as she continues to sob. The horror soon sets in a
Lucy’s eyes go wide when she answers the phone. All of us in the room stall. It's so quiet you could hear a pin drop. “ Fuck you Stacy. This is between you and me. There is no need to involve innocent pack members.” Lucy sneers into the phone. I can't help but hold back a growl. Stacy and her mate need to be taught a lesson. The rest of us remain quiet as we listen to the conversation. “ You must be so naive if you think I am doing this because of you. What are you?” Stacy chuckles darkly. Lucy takes in a deep breath before asking. “ Then why are you doing this?” “ Let me just say for the same reason you once rejected your mate. I want the power that I once hard back but I don't need those pathetic park members when I can rule over great things.” Stacy states with a wicked laugher that's has me wanting to scratch my face. Lucy is now standing no longer laying on the sofa like she was some minutes ago. I try my best to stay calm, I can't ruin this maybe this might give is a clu
“ What do you mean you don't have the answers we seek?” I ask after being quiet for such a long time. The shock wears off, my mind has been running wild, seeing Justin and mum in that state will be the end of me for sure. It all doesn't just make sense, Stacy has too many advantages over us and I begin to doubt if at all we will win this battle. Megan was my only hope and hearing her say these words doesn't sit well with me. “ I mean just that, Lucy. I don't have the answers you are looking for.” She states more firmly this time. She holds my gaze with her pale blue eyes, they look so pale I almost thought they were white. “ But we came all this way and travelled for three day without food and you tell us, you don't have any answers.” My voice comes out calmly even though a storm is raging inside me. “ But there is nothing I can do.” She doesn't waver with her answers. It's like everything I said just breezed through her. “ NO!” I spit, “ there is something you can but you don'
